Brilliant colors
I'm so happy that I spent a bit more for these pencils because they are worth the amount spent on them! The colors jump out at you from the paper, even the subtle pastels. I'm sold on this brand and will be buying the other colorways that I don't have in the near future.

Gorgeous Colors you won’t find elsewhere
These pencils are so strange and I mean that in the best way! They are not your typical wax pencils, much less…..waxy? Not sure how to describe it exactly but they are a pleasure to use, though I do think there is a small learning curve at first. The main thing for me is- the colors. 100 colors in total make up the entire Irojiten colored pencil collection (at least so far) and the palette as a whole is so unique and different than your typical artist/high quality pencil sets. I have a couple inexpensive (but great nonetheless) sets like Black Widow:Dragon and Indra: Morandi for example that are made up of unique colors, but in terms of more common/well-known sets: on the more costly side by fabercastel m bc, prisma, derwent….and budget-friendly sets from castle arts, arteza, brutfuner, artix, etc. you won’t get those typical/classic color palettes with these. And for that reason, among others, coloring with these is a breath of fresh air, truly. Beautiful.

Love, but...
I do love these, very much, but they are NOT soft core pencils. These also require layering to really give that super pigmented look. Does that detract from them, overall yes and no. If I just want something to quickly lay down color, these are not it, BUT they are quite nice for sketches. Be aware, if you use general sketchbooks under 100gsm, they will transfer lines (not color) through. Why? Because they require more pressure to lay down color. I've learned these are for mixed media pages or really anything that is minimum 120-150 gsm thick paper. Though I will say that the tooth on the page does not seem to affect these either way.Hope this helps!

Wish I bought them sooner!
I have wanted these for a long time but I put off ordering then because of mixed reviews. I wish I ordered them sooner. They are great pencils. One of the things I like most if that they have very unique colors. They are a harder pencil, but they are not too waxy. They layer beautifully. If you are looking for a soft waxy pencil like Prismacolors, these are not the ones you want. I have both and I find they both work well in different ways. I find the Tombows to work well on the kinds of paper prismacolors don't do as well on. Tombows are nice for sketching or coloring detail like hair were you want to see the texture. Some people complained that some of the colors are too light, that is the way they are supposed to be. It is not that they don't have enough pigment. It's just the pigment is light. I used the light grayish tones to color some botanical pictures and I love how they came out. The box is cute but I both love and hate it at the same time. I like how they are divided into groups. It is fun to color with just one book at a time but sometimes I want to use all the pencils. It can be a pain to look through the boxes to find what I need. I plan on buying the other sets soon. I will probably end up putting them in a slotted pencil case, still keeping them in book order.

Unique colors
Got all 3 collections, one by one. I love those tones, pencils are sharp, lead don't break. If you love only soft lead, buttery pencils, then Irojiten is absolutely different) they are even not HB, I think they are near H or even H2.I am professional artist and pencils collector and those magic boxes are my favorites. I show you some artwork made with them.

Beautiful colors!
Soft, rich, beautiful colors! And for the pricem you get lot! These colored pencils are really pleasant to use, and I always considered myself a strict Prisma fan for their performance, looks like these might be my next go-to in my travel case. The cores are sturdy and sharpen pretty well with most sharpners but I'd recommend a Derwent one. Definitely worth it.
