I got this for my room on 3rd floor in an old building that didn’t have adequate fire escapes. Don't want to be stuck in there is a fire breaks out downstairs. Looks easy to use, has not tried yet but the instruction is clear. Hopefully, I never have to use it. Good price on the brand/model.

We live in a 3 story home and were looking for a safety ladder in case of emergency. It is very sturdy and well made.

Test everything when it arrives. So, my ladder arrived yesterday. Today, I tried out this ladder. I did bounce a little to make sure the base was stable. I was shocked when my foot suddenly dropped, the next 2 steps did the same thing. Fortunately, I was not completely below the edge, and was able to pull myself back up. Looking at the ladder, I saw where the rungs began to split from both sides by the rope that goes inside them.I'm not a small man, 6'1", ~250 lbs, and this ladder is supposed to support 2000 lbs. I guess if 10 smalish people stepped on separate rungs, and treaded lightly it might work. What if this was your (full-figured) mother or grandmother fleeing a fire from 4 stories up? This product is a safety hazard.Ease of use (5 star) and lightweight (5 star) mean nothing if the ladder fails (1 star), and you fall 30 feet.

We recently had a fire on our island that killed two and left four other family members hospitalized. Some jumped from a second story window, and children were left to go through their memories and spend their lives without a mother and little sister. Our 40 year old son (who has a 9 year old child) was traumatized just from the photos and the news, and his is the reason we began looking for an escape ladder and bought all new fire alarms. Homes on our island are built a full story above ground, so our top living space is actually 4 stories high. We bought the ladder that will reach from there to the ground.Before purchasing, we researched several models online, and several on Amazon, but this one looked the most solid and simple to use. We also purchased the large, over-the-window-sill hooks, and a child harness, both to store with the ladder. Everything arrived extremely quickly, and we are pleased with the apparent quality. As I said in my opening, the best case scenario will be "never to use this", but thanks to its reasonable price and clearly thought out design, we're as prepared as a family can be! We urge you to do the same for your family!
