Any tech that is trying to get their NICET certifications needs this book. Especially for those of you wanting your level 3 or 4.

Older edition than expected

Typos and some of the paragraphs weren't even legible.Grammar nightmare.Don't even bother with their online courses, Upsell central. Trying to sell you this book.There is no lesson in the $200+ online "courses".Just a brief explanation of the chapter and bam, right into quizzing you.No attempt to get you familiar with the material in code books. and the guy doesn't give you time to look up the chapters he mentions after quiz review.

After paying over $100 from an alarm dealer, I felt I should have asked around first for reviewsbefore making the purchase.I bought this book to help train some of my newer apprentice/employees, but found a few typos thatactually impacted the meaning of what the author was trying to convey. I even had to scratch out andmake these corrections before handing the book over to one of my apprentices.I've been thinking about writing to the author and letting him know of these errors. Hopefully he willmake the corrections before a new edition goes out to the public.Just my opinion but this book is "OK" at best for those who want a brief narration on fire alarm systemcomponents and should only be read by those who need a brief synopsis.This manual isn't very good as far as "training material" goes, but might be helpful in understandingthe various components of a fire alarm system. More detail should be added as some of the informationon individual components are written in 400 words or less.Just an opinion from a guy who has spent the past 27 years in this industry. Not enough information for NICET level testing. Even for general reference it is weak. There are better books for both NICET (Red & Orange book) or general information (NJATC's book) than this. Save your money and look elsewhere.
