i learned a lot. great books.

I haven't gotten through the entire book as of yet but Egyptian section seems like it was written in a language other than English by a high schooler and then translated to English by a non-native speaker with passable fluency. I don't consider myself a stickler for grammar nor am I an expert, but the Egyptian section had numerous places where the grammar takes you out of what you are reading. It seems as though they skipped the proofreading phase. It did seem like a good overview of Ancient Egyptian history in a fairly short span of pages.The little bit I've read of the Roman section seems to be better. If you expect a Phd or even collegiate level of writing in books like this save yourself the pain. If, however, you just want a brief overview of some history and are okay with lists of facts put into paragraph form and poor grammar this may very well be the book for you

Okay, let's just start with OMG I LOVED THIS WHOLE SERIES. There's so much to learn about and the fact it's in a set makes it even better, more for your money that way. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves ancient history.

These books cover three of the major countries that still have an influence on today's world. Ranging from the birth of democracy (Greece) through magnificent monuments (Egypt) and the major empire of Rome these books provide information on when, where, who and why of these ancient domains. Famous people such as Julius Caesar, Plato and Cleopatra are covered.The books also cover the variety of wars that these three kingdoms ended up in and how all three kingdoms eventually fell. The growth of Christianity (Rome), the tombs of the elite (Egypt) and philosophers such as Marcus Aurelius are all in these books.Very informative, very readable and very interesting.

This is a concise, easy to read and understand history of Greece, Rome, and Egypt. It's very easy to follow along and you don't get bogged down with boring details, you get important highlights. I thoroughly enjoy all my Captivating History books. I learn about subjects that might not have held my interest in lengthy text books.
