SHARP BRIGHT QUALITY build. Even though 7x you will see more than other brands 8x scopes.
lightweight, excellent optics, no color fringing seen. focus works great but with such long depth of field (which is an excellent advantage) really tuning in to the most sharp focus is more difficult--not a bad thing technically but just different experience. I find myself looking for detail moving the focus up and down to really perfect the focus. Once in focus nothing is sharper! Sharpness (of course not magnification) is as good as neighbors $3500 15 x 56 and $600 10 x 21 binoculars. In dim lighting everything is much brighter than with naked eyes. QUALITY of this monocular is TOPS! I bought and returned roof prism monoculars with ED glass because this was better such as better than the ED glass Hawk monocular not even close in sharpness (though it is a 8 x 42 it will obviously, also, gather less light).

Pricey but worth it...
Monoculars are the overlooked cousins of binoculars.Sometimes a monocular is more handybecause of its smaller size and weight and the fact that it can't be knocked out of collimationlike binoculars. This 7x50 has excellent build quality, fit and finish. The field of view is 7.2 degrees,a littlemore than the usual 7.1.Eye relief is superb, eyeglass wearers (like this reviewer) will have no problems.(The eyepiece has a fold down feature to accommodate eyeglasses.)Images were sharp and it passed its star test but like all refractor instrumentsit had the usual coma flaring as the image neared the edge of the lens.(You can onlysee this with a point source of light like a star.)The "marine" designation means it's nitrogen filled and waterproofed. So while "pricey" you get what you pay for,a high quality well mademonocular that's worth it.

Handy for both short impromptu stargazing and longer “space walks”
Love the Marine 3 7x50 monocular by Opticron. I bought it three months ago, and have found it to be both a great supplement to my telescope sessions, and also a very useful instrument on it’s own. Here in western Oregon where I live, opportunities for stargazing can be fleeting in fall and winter. Being waterproofed and nitrogen filled means it won’t easily fog up.With a magnification of 7x and an aperture of 50mm, the Marine 3 brings in plenty of starlight for scanning the sky. Even in my light polluted suburbs, I’m able to view the Andromeda Galaxy, the Orion Nebula and a few of the other showcase Messier objects. The eye relief is great and the monocular fits well in my hand. It’s light enough to minimize shakiness while viewing, and it provides a nice, wide field of view. Recommended!
