Q: How long is the wand that hangs down from the lock? Our doors go to the ceiling and I want to see if I can reach it without having to be on my toes.

It's about 8-9 inches or so, maybe? I'm 5'2" and can reach it at the top of our doors. They're the standard 80" doors though, not to the ceiling.

Q: Do you need 2 of these for a double door (one for each hinge) or does it go between the 2 doors?

Yes you will need 2 one for each hinge

Q: Do these install without being screwed in?

Yes. There is not a way to screw them in. They move along the door freely.
