Q: Does this lock have the automatic locking features

For those of you that are able to lock your deadbolt when leaving the house by only pushing the Schlage button & not having to enter your code then be AWARE that the reverse is true as well. Meaning to gain entry you ONLY have to push the word ‘Schlage’ on your key pad and your in. Heads up everyone ! I found out after having this lock for quiet awhile that anyone could walk right in my house with no code just by pushing the Schlage button

Q: Does the keypad always light up or only in the dark? Mine did not light up last night when I thought it ought to so I couldn't see the numbers at nigh

If you touch the Schlage logo above the numbers, it activates the lighting. If you're in a low or no light situation, it's a very handy feature. Otherwise the lighting status off.

Q: thinking of using this deadbolt for a rental property, how easy is it to change the code? Is there a limit to how many times code can be changed?

This lock is super easy to program. You can program it as many times as you need to, and can have several different codes for one lock.
