Purina Fancy Feast Medleys Poultry Collection Wet Cat Food Variety Pack - (Pack of 30) 3 oz. Cans

First off, I never had to give my cats soft/wet food, so as far as "the old formula" goes, my cats were never exposed to it. Furthermore, all of "the old formula" comments are from 2015, I started using Purely Fancy Feast Entrees in March 2018. I also wanted to point out that the negative remarks concerning "the old formula" mention that the item they were using was Fancy Feast Appetizers. This item IS NOT Fancy Feast Appetizers (which I have seen next to this product at Wal-mart). Purely Fancy Feast Entrée, is marked so on the box, and is bigger (quantity) than the similar looking Fancy Feast Appetizer. The Entrees also come in different flavors as well. Just an observation that may/may not invalidate the angry 1 star ratings. As I do not use the Fancy Feast Appetizers, I do not know their ingredients.As for this product, a back story is needed. As mentioned above, I never used wet/soft food for my cats. Hill's Science Diet dry food has always been my food of choice for the past 2 generations of cats, and is still the main food for 3 of my 4 cats. However, in March of 2018, I was introduced to a senior cat in a bad situation. We'll just call senior cat "Chi" to protect the innocent. Chi's human mother had rescued her from being destroyed, when the state confiscated a pet hoarders house. She was one of 12 (of the 250) who were rescued, the rest were put down. The vets diagnosed her with several diseases including Feline Leukemia, Brain Tumors, severe allergies and weak gums that could not support teeth (a genetic condition). Her human mother was told that the kitty would not live more than a year. Moreover, mom was moving across the country, and the vets also said that the pressure from the flight would probably kill her. Chi survived all of this only to have her human mother move into a house where the landlady was a cat hater. Unfortunately for Chi, her mother actually considered what the landlady proposed, and that was to put her to sleep, or move out. Not wanting a 4th cat, I could not allow this little survivor to meet her fate because she became "inconvenient". Despite her hard life, Chi was a very sweet kitty. When I received her, she was between 10-12 years old, 4 lbs, eyes crusted shut because of the constant discharge, blood coming from her nose and ears where she would scratch until they bled, somewhat scared of human interaction, and I was warned that she could only eat a quarter of a can of wet cat food a day, else she would vomit (dry cat food being completely out of the question). In comes Purina Purely Fancy Feast Entrees! Seeing that her previous owner was feeding her $0.23 cat food, I chose Purely Fancy Feast because of its very natural look and ingredients. Depending on the flavor, the first few ingredients are always the main protein and their juices. Yes, Sunflower Oil is used, but reading several veterinarian journals, pet health articles, and discussing whether it is good or bad for my cat (or dog) is inconclusive. Some say it helps with keeping their coat glossy (as well as other digestive positives) and should be added to their diets, while others say its not good (really 50/50 on this). Anyway, Chi loved the food. From day one she ate the entire container without getting sick. She is up to 3 containers a day, is now 6lbs, runs around like and plays like a kitten, and after the first month of just wet food, she now snacks on the Hills Science Diet dry food between feedings. Her recent bloodwork came back very healthy. As I still am in contact with her previous owner and I explain that I do not have any of the issues she had with vomiting, dietary needs, and allergies, she is speechless. Four months after getting Chi on Purely Fancy Feast Entrees has made her different cat, in a very good way. Chi enjoys all of the flavors, but has trouble eating the one with shrimp, as there is a whole small shrimp in each container. My other kitties are glad to help her with this, as they all love the wet food as well (but only get as a special treat). I try to stay away from the fish ones, but Fancy Feast does use Skipjack Tuna, which contains less mercury than other Tunas. I do not use the Tongol Tuna either, as the cubes are too big for Chi and she cannot/will not eat them. But still, this dish looks very natural/delicious as well.Just a little note, I recently noticed a review that mentioned that this product helped their cat that could not keep food down because of a genetic disorder. More drastic than Chi, their kitty was on the verge of death, but has now been around for an additional 2 years because of this food. Much like Chi, the reviewer also commented that her kitty now snacks on dry food between feedings as well, without any issues. Perhaps the natural ingredients or perhaps the sunflower oil (that I have read to be a good 'coater' for sensitive bellies), but there are at least 2 people (and 2 very special kitties) that are very thankful for Purely Fancy Feast Entrees.

This one is my cat’s favorite brand and flavor! Chicken and liver! They love it and a lot of times it’s sold out at the local supermarket. Great price as well!

"When my cat stopped eating dry food, I was at a loss. After ruling out any medical issues with the vet, I tried several wet food options before finding this one—and it’s been a game changer! My cat, who has always been a picky eater in the four years I’ve had her, was losing weight and barely eating. But as soon as I introduced the grilled chicken flavor, she was hooked. The petite size is perfect for her, so I don’t have to worry about wasting food if she decides not to finish. Most importantly, she’s eating regularly again—more than once a day! In just a few weeks, her energy levels are up, and she’s no longer losing weight. This has been a lifesaver for her and a relief for me.

The media could not be loaded. Earlier this year, my cat decided he doesn't drink water anymore out of the blue, at least not regularly. So now he's on part dry food (a high-end brand), part wet food. And he's a finicky one about his food. I've tried at least 50 different wet food options: different brands (some expensive, some not so much like this one), flavours (chicken, various fish, turkey, beef), and textures (mousse, pate, pieces in gravy, shreds in broth, etc). He likes these the most, especially the chicken, salmon, and beef (hates the turkey and tuna/whitefish), and I can get away with adding up to a tablespoon of extra water into each one to make sure he's getting enough water each day.Aside from that, I checked the ingredients - Fancy Feast appears to have improved in recent years. The food smells like cooked ground chicken with gravy as opposed to how wet cat food often smells. He finds it appetizing, and I'm not gagging trying to feed him. Win/win.Tip to opening them more easily: Hold the edge of the tub with one thumb near the pull tab and brace the other end with the fingers on the same hand. Pinch the tab with thumb and forefinger with your other hand and press it toward the top edge while wiggle-pulling toward the other end. Got the technique through trial and error, but adding a little pressure to get the opening started usually does the trick. Once in a while, the lid tears so then I have to resort to slicing around the edge with a knife whilst avoiding the plastic cup. Worth it to keep him happy and hydrated though!I added a video that hopefully demonstrates how I get the lid off fairly easily each time! I hope it helps.

My kitty is a fussy eater, he has a lot of health problems. It’s a struggle to find cat food that he will eat. I’ve tried many different brands of cat food. He only likes the pate texture.This pack has a nice variety of flavors, he doesn’t want the same one every time.He likes this pack, I’m glad he’ll eat this.

My picky adult tortie likes this. We have a wide variety of options available for her. She likes something for awhile then doesn't, or totally dislikes something any given day. I find that a few things are worthy of her consumption, so even if she turns her nose up one day, I know she will like it again soon.This is surprisingly on her approved list of morsels. She usually prefers something with a lot of gravy, so I normally find things that are cuts/bits/shreds and not so much in the pate department. But I still pepper those in. She likes this pate! It has some extra gravy which she likes a lot, and for whatever reason it seems easier for her to eat.Easy to peel back lids, easy to snap containers. All contents come out with ease.I didnt expect this to be a repurchase. I think I tried it because it was on sale, but now I plan to buy more. I cant say if your kitty will like it or not, but like with mine, once in awhile something is deemed worthwhile to them. If only I could just give her my credit card and let her order what she wanted!
