Rubie's Costume Co Women's The Hunger Games Deluxe Katniss Costume

This was a last minute purchase for my daughter, so my expectations were that of a parent ordering a Halloween costume VERY last minute. I was pleasantly suprised with the quality and fit. She is about 5'2 and 130lbs and the size large fit her perfectly. She is very particular about the way clothing feels and she was very comfortable in it all night. It has some stretch, which helps. Temperature-wise, she was also comfortable, so the costume wasn't overly hot, but also kept her warm enough from the slight chill. At first glance the waist seemed too small, but it had a good amount of stretch to not be overly or uncomfortably tight. For reference, I tried it on as well, I am 5'4, 137lbs and it fit me just as good. It looks like a more expensive costume and seems very durable. It even comes with a mockingjay pin, although I wish it were brass because it is black (the same color as the costume), making it a little difficult to see. It would be easy to paint, so not a big deal. We bought a cheap bow and arrow from Spirit Halloween to complete the look and our daughter was a beautiful and confident Katniss Everdeen for the night! We were wondering if anyone would recognize who she was (which they did 😊), but we realized we didn't even care because the costume was so cool. I think a side braid plus a bow and arrow brought the whole look together.

I definitely was worried because this didn't have the best reviews, but seems we got lucky. My daughter insisted on this costume but her size wasn't available and I knew that the pants would be too small, so we did some crafting and put the pads on a bigger pair of leggings and it worked out great. She looked exactly like Katniss! I would be worried if she needed to wear the costume more than once about it ripping but it arrived all sewn together properly and with the pin too.

Upon opening the package, the first thing I noticed was that the top was already damaged. The straps that connect the foam "armor" to the top were all ripped off on one side. The material of the straps had basically unraveled to the point where they'd fallen off before even trying them on. If the top was disappointing in its quality, the bottoms were even more so. The fabric is very thin -- you can see your underwear underneath of it. I'm 5'7" and 165 pounds and the Medium wouldn't even stay up over my butt (I used the measurement chart, and it came nowhere near fitting how it should). Add to that the fact that the foam shin guards weren't even sewn on straight, so rather than sitting on the front of my legs, they were off-center to the sides. I understand that I wasn't purchasing a high-quality, custom costume, but even for the price this was downright awful for something officially licensed. Would not recommend.

I bought this for my teen daughter as a competition costume. I’m a little disappointed, but also ultimately happy with how the end result turned out. All the straps on the costume were pulled away from the seam, the ends were frayed making it difficult to fix. I had to melt the ends and sew the majority of each of the straps down to the body of the costume. The included pin was was not included; therefore, I purchased a patch from another vendor from a different platform. The leggings would have been a great addition; however the knee and shin pads were placed too high… after resewing the entire top I wasn’t about to reinvent the leggings too! We didn’t bother with the leggings at this point. The top; once fixed, looked great! The “armor” looked pretty authentic and was easy to move in. It was a comfortable fitting, zip up the back stretchy top. If you don’t mind putting a lot of extra time into this and know how to sew and can get creative to achieve the look you need… this isn’t a bad costume. If you expect to open the package and put it on and run out to a party…. You may be disappointed. Good luck; and, may the odds be ever in your favor!

So other than the knee pads being a TINY bit high, and the arms a little long, it's perfect. I THOUGHT IT WAS A BODY SUIT. It's TWO PIECES! IT's way more comfortable, and the shirt is a half zip up so you don't have to do the whole thing! It's SUPER comfortable. I have the Costume from Catching Fire, too, and it's a little itchy, and the sleeves are extremely short so I was very nervous about the fit of this. Same company, same size, and the legs were a bit short, too, but no problems here. Super comfy.For sizing help, 'cause it's not super accurate, If you're about 5'5 and in the ballpark of 120-140lbs this is probably going to be a very good fit. A little taller you're probably okay but much taller and you might want to go a size up. Either way it seems fairly well made, I was expecting sort of foamy armor and it isn't as SHINY as it looks in the photo, but it wasn't super shiny in the film so I'm pretty pleased. Got a lot of compliments, too.

Honestly it's better than I expected. I wear a size medium in clothes and it fits like a glove. If you are a little more on the lump and bump side, you may want to order a large. I am 5'4 and the pants are just a little over my rear. Barely enough to cover but if I bend I will be going as a plumber for halloween instead. The shirt is a little on the short in the mid drift side but it covers well enough. As far as value for the money... I'm over all happy because it's a replacement for a different costume that fell through. Works perfectly as a dark bastila shan replacement. However, it's definitely over priced. This should be on the $25 walmart halloween section with the rest of them. Not $60. It also did not come with the pin as advertised but I'm ok with that because I didn't need it anyway.
