Transition Nutrition Spirulina Powder (Inca) Raw Andes Mountains - Vegan and Gluten Free - Raw and Organic (16 oz)

I've eaten spirulina on and off for over 15 years.. I recentlly tried 5 different companies to test which I liked most. Actually the other 4 didn't pass my smell or taste test (many are dried at too high of a temperature)..this brand is a legit, high quality product! I was pretty sure the moment I smelled it.. but it also has the right flavor and I can feel the positive effects! I hope they'll keep producing this same high quality for many years to come!

I like the blue pigment

I have tried a bunch of different powders from different parts of the world. This is not my favorite but is is not a powerfully tasting as some. My favorite so far is the Sari foods brand. The kicker for me is when I open the bag. If it smells pleasant I am good to go. If it smells too fishy I don't want to put it in my smoothie. This one is not neutral but not offensive. Worth a shot as it is being sold at a reasonable price. Or try Sari foods brand first so you can compare,

I have purchased at least three other brands of spirulina, and every one tasted like pond scum. This one does not. It surprisingly has almost no taste to me. I feel a lot safer with this brand, being grown in the Andes mountains, versus China or India, where there is a lot of pollution, and a lot of people willing to cut corners and not tell you. I have inspected it, and so far have not noticed any metallic specks like that one reviewer claimed to have found. I am very satisfied with this product, and no, I did not receive any discounts for writing this review.Edit (10-23-16): I decided to do the "magnet test" like the one reviewer did, with a VERY powerful magnet. No metallic bits came out from it.Edit (04-22-17): I still really like this product, but I have taken a star off because I have some uncertainty as to its purity: One customer asked why it is not labeled USDA Organic, and the answer given by the company was because it came from the sea--even though they say in the description that it is raised in greenhouses in the Andes Mountains at 9000 feet elevation. I asked in the Q&A section directly whether any chemicals are used in the production of it, and did not get an answer from them.

I had been taking Spirulina given to me by a friend and felt great. First time I took it I felt my mind calm, realizing it gave my brain nutrition. I finished the bag and then bought this product. This made me sick to my stomach, burping it up, bad after taste in my mouth

It taste disgusting! I couldn't get it all down without wanting to vomit. It's also very hard to mix and clumps up. I suggest the pill form. Delivery and package gets the two stars but I just can't seem to get past the taste.

The product is of very high quality, but I don't like the way it tastes. Used to get another brand (NOW) and I think I prefer the flavor of that other brand to this one. I wish I had just purchased that brand. In keeping it real it's not like spirulina has the best taste around, but I thought the NOW brand was more tolerable and not as "green" tasting if you know what I mean. I think I am going to purchase the NOW brand next time.

This is very good quality spirulina. I have tried many but this one just tastes so much better, cleaner if you will. It's a little lighter in shade then some and blends really well. Reclosable packaging works well and a great price.
