Versatile wading boots
Bought these one size large for my Chota hippies. With the removable insole they fit perfectly with the booties or without. I also have the low-rise model but they don't stay on in mud. The high rise boots do stay on. They are light weight, durable, comfortable and they fit great. If you are pedaling a kayak and wade fishing I have to say these are perfect for all day, all purpose wear.

Great Wading Shoes
This is my third set of Chota wading shoes. I use them heavily wading on rocky and sand shores on the coast where they get abraded by barnacles and exposed to salt water. My first two pairs were low cut models which have been disconintued. These high tops are even better. My first two pairs lasted three years each, with annual use of about three days per week for for six months. They are very light, easy to get on and off, have a good grip, and have decent abrasion resistance for a light weight shoe. I bought two sizes larger than my shoes size so they fit over my stocking foot waders. When the water is warm enough, I wade in trunks and use a neoprene sock to fill out the shoe.

Excellent
Excellent, good drainage, great grip, fits real well on the foot and is comfy. Used with hippy waders, bought one size larger to accommodate, work

One of the best wetfoot portage boots available
I’ve taken over 70 trips into the BWCAW, Quetico Provincial park, and Admiralty Island in Southwest Alaska. I’ve always engaged in “wetfoot” canoeing. I’ve also tried a Miriad of different boots for portaging including Vietnam Combat Boots, 16” LL Bean leathertop Main Hunting Boots, NRS Portage-Canoe-Kayak Boots, NRS Neoprene Workboots, an assortment of other amphibious shoes including Chaco, Simms, Chota’s other wading boots, and US Navy Seals Amphibious Assault boots. I just purchased a 2nd pair of these Chota Ultralight Portage boots. After having worn out a pair of the Navy Seals boots, I was skeptical of the durability of theses lightweight “upstarts.” Although not as durable nor as stiff-soled as the Seals Boots ( which by the way are no longer made in the model and maker I have), these Chacos are surprisingly tough; the drain extremely well; are exceptionally light and easy to put on and take off. I usually wear them with a pair of thin liner socks with a 2 mill neoprene shaped Sock, or heavier wool or poly socks. If I’m wearing a wet suit bottom or shorts, I wear with neoprene socks with a gravel cuff to keep pebbles and stuff from coming in the top. I did not think the elastic lacing system would provide enough support, however, they’ worked very well and make booting up and removing boots quick and easy. They dry fast. Although not as tough as the Navy Seals boots or Main hunting boots, they are still quite durable. The mesh on the sides are vulnerable to sharp underwater rocks but are still pretty tough. The soles l(arge wave patterned ones) hold well, and grip both underwater rocks and forest detritus well (I did have trouble with another pair of Chota wading boots with a black fine rippled sole … which caused repeated falls on hills with pine needles). I’ve had no traction problems with these boots. These boots have no open cell foam to gather and hold water.I highly recommend these boots for wet-foot canoeing. I would eagerly give them 5 stars if they could toughen up the screen portions a bit.

Probably best compromise
Wore on 1month river canoe trip north Ontario. Good support. Protects feet when portaging. Drains well. Easy on and stays on. Good traction. Really worn sides at end of trip. Probably won’t last but one more summer. It’s a nice boot but for 2 seasons? Maybe the Canery Fork next time? It is a bit heavier but has leather uppers.

Great boots, super light. like wearing your favorite pair of sneakers
I fish a LOT, so i have a lot of gear and always like to try different gear to see what works and what doesn't. These high tops are great for warmer weather. They are super light and the feel is more like wearing sneakers rather than boots. These would be great for hike-in trips , wet wading, kayaking, etc. With the look and comfort of these you could easily get away with wearing these around town and they are a pleasure to wear while driving from spot to spot

Very light weight
I was tired of heavy clunky wading boots and thought I would give these boots a try. I have been very delighted with them so far. They are light weight, but give good support and traction. The elastic shoe strings and clips make them very fast to put on and lace up. I have not worn them long enough to offer an opinion on long term durability but have worn them for some serious climbing and descents to access the streams. The boots are holding up well. I highly recommend these boots for the serious fisherman! Update! Having worn these boots for several outings now they are holding up well. They are like fishing and hiking in your house slippers. They can be a bit slick on rock snot but what boots aren't. I have not put studs in them.

Fish hard
Used these for the fist time and they were sweet. Very comfywalked for miles thru new york rivers and feet didnt hurt didnt have a problem walkin on slippery rocks or walkin thru muddy paths. Comes with sole inserts so u can use them no problem with waders or put the inserts in and not even use waders during the summer. Order a size up tho had to return the first pair but no big deal, had my new pair 2 days later
