Beauty of an upgrade from my OnePlus 3
I have migrated from form my four years old (in fact still young) OnePlus 3 handset which actually had turned me into a loyal OnePlus fan!Initially I had decided to buy the 1+8 pro model and decided against it after the numerous reviews pointed out that there is not much difference between 90 hz and 120 hz refresh rate. And also the battery management is better in 8 than in the pro. And I am not a fan of wireless charging and IP rating. Below is my review of the handset after a month's usage.PROs1.This is the fastest phone that I have ever come across in my life. Downloading movies and big files are completed in a jiffy. For gamers, this is the one that would give poise, speed and perfection. For the same network, the network speed test results are almost three times compared to my previous handset. That I didn't expect even in my wildest imaginations!! Wav!2. The display. It is eye catching and yet not straining the eyes even after long periods of usage. The touch screen glass gives a very smooth feel to your fingers.3. Camera. It is decent. The primary camera is okay if not awesome. Full screen photos are awesome but only available with the 12 MP camera. 35 MP camera in daylight takes very good images. And the wide angle shots are real handy and looks beautiful. The video camera is what I liked the most. And it comes with an inbuilt video editor with basic editing tools like various filters, trim and background music etc.. The video quality has got lot of options from 720p, 1080p and 4k. The single most aspect of this phone that I liked is the video part. It is really top class. Even the front camera shoots quality videos with great details.4. The android 10 on oxygen UI on the curved display at 90hz refresh rate is something of a great ergonomic innovation and renders a top notch and super smooth maneuverability for the users especially when opted for navigation gestures. I doubt one would ever go back to the traditional back button, recent button combinations.5. No complaints in the battery part. The OnePlus 30W warp charging does the job. But it takes more time for a full charge than my old 1+3. Few occasional heating while charging. That is okay. The charge holds satisfactorily. Anyway no change in my charging frequency from with my OnePlus 3, that is two times a day. But the juice holds more befre plugging in for charge in 1+8.6. Call quality, loud speaker and the Dolby atmos are of flagship premium quality. But still a distance away from iphones. I have purchased an oneplus wireless bullets Z along with this and they are a beautiful combination for a common man if not for an audiophile. Believe it is an awesome musical experience and also for calls with a super sensitive mic and blutooth covers a hell a lot of distance.7. Since this handset is manufactured in India, the price as calculated in US dollar terms in India is far less expensive than in other countries. So greater value for money in Indian rupees.8. With so many flagship features and specifications, the phone is still very light in weight and very easy to handle with one hand and I am damn sure the glacial green colour is one the coolest and one of the most attractive colours on a smartphone that I have admired recently. But catches lot of fingerprints. Try with the spigen transparent back cover. And for tempered glass, try glzedinc or 3M which fits perfect on the curved edges. But I liked the transparent back cover in the box which is cute and is a very feel-good one two and has already survived 4-5 falls!!9. Though it is not officially IP rated for water proof, the handset is actually water proof. I have washed it couple of times in the running tap water. It is fine.10. Last but not the least the lightening speed in-display finger print sensor and the very effective and quick face unlock. And when the phone is lifted, the fingerprint unlock gets automatically highlited and prompts. That is wav wav really!!!CONs:1. The adaptive brightness is the most irritating aspect in OnePlus phones. I don't know when OnePlus will set it right. The adjustment is no where near to the real time requirement.2. The aspect ratio of the phone doesn't bring full screen or fill the screen on my 55 inch TV while casting. Still leaves spaces on the top and bottom. Posted in the oneplus form too. Tried a lot but no anvil where my earlier 1+3 handset does that beautifully.3. The rear image camera is not among my favourite feautures of this phone. Expected a better one especially in low light conditions.. May be they have reserved that for the upcoming 8T model.4. There is no dedicated download folder in the tray. It is embarrassing as all the time you need to go the files folder and search for it. Also the cache and residual files cleaning is cumbersome as one need to go the storage in the setting, select individual app and clear the cache every time one needs to or finally resort to a third party cleaner app.5. Back of my mind says the phone could have been shorter as the handset is too long to reach to the top corners especially the diagonal ones with one hand. But width is just perfect but not for typing in gboard, always prone to mistyping letters even after changed the size of the keyboard to maximum size!! Also could have been slimmer like other flagships. Also the front camera's placing which comes in touch with the finger while swiping from top.VERDICTIt is a true flagship phone from the moment you hold the handset for the first time and during all your daily tasks till you dock. The price compared to Samsung S20 or Mi 10 or even iPhone 11 pro. It feels premium. And It is a premium phone (except camera) No doubt.5G network is now announced by Reliance Jio in India, this is high time to grab a 5G phone. And in my opinion this phone beats all its peers in UI, speed and price. If you want a phone with a smaller battery and a better camera, you may opt for OnePlus 7T which is still 10,000 bucks cheaper with the same display minus curved edges! Or wait for the the lite version OnePlus Nord. For me it is one of the delightful purchases in my recent time and I am more than satisfied after a month of heavy usage!PS:Good news! Already Android 11 beta is released for OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro!!

Best device you can get in the price range
This is my second OnePlus device, previously I owned 5T. I know what I was getting into. I tested this device for a week and this is my review of itDesign & Build Quality: I gotta say the glacial green that I got looks gorgeous, build quality is pretty good. The device is light weight when compared to its competitors. It feels amazing in hand due to its cuvred back and screen. Only downside is that the phone lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. I recommend using this device with a case since it's slippery. I would rate the design and build quality 4.5/5.Display: The phone has gorgeous 6.55in fuel AMOLED full HD display with smooth 90htz refresh rate. It's true that the display is full HD not QHD but honestly this display is awesome, with 90htz refresh rate the phone feels snappier. The display is bright with 1000nits so no issue viewing under direct sunlight. One thing I noticed is that the phone is kinda bright at the lowest brightness level it's hard to use it with all lights turned off but with the night mode on it's easier on the eyes. Overall it's a great display I would rate it 5/5.Performance: This phone is a beast with the latest and greatest hardware. With Snapdragon 865 SoC and 8GB of ram this phone just flies through anything you throw at it, let it be socialmedia or heavy games. If you guys are wondering about the benchmark I have attached screenshots of Geek bench score. I would rate the performance a solid 5/5.Gaming performance: I'm a heavy gamer, I have tested several games like pubg, cod and mobile legends. You can play all the games in the highest setting without any lag. OnePlus's gaming mode comes in handy to block with those annoying notifications popup while paying. The phone didn't heat up even after 3 hours of gameplay it got a little warm which absolutely normal. I would rate the gaming performance 5/5.Camera: I'm not much of a photographer but I did take few shots to test the camera, I gotta say camera is better than 7t. If you want the absolute best camera you gotta look elsewhere but for normal people the camera is good enough. One thing I don't like is the 2MP macro camera honestly you can get better "macro" shots with 2x zoom on the primary camera. Apart from that rear camera is pretty good. Coming to selfie camera the 12MP is good enough you get some good looking selfies but the downside is you can't shoot 4k video with front camera. Rear camera can shoot 4k upto 60fps. Low light performance of the primary camera is also good but there isn't much difference between the night scape and normal photo. Sometimes the normal photo looks better than the one shot with nightscape. Overall I would rate the camera 4/5.Battery: This device has 4300mAh which should easily last through the day for moderate usage. I was getting screen on time of about 6.5-7 hours with 90htz always on which is better than most of the devices in the price point. I tested the battery performance while gaming, I gotta say I'm quite impressed from 100% the battery dropped to 59% after 4:30 hours of playing mobile legends. The phone comes with wrapcharge 30T which can charge the device from 0 to 100% in little over an hour (1hr 4mins to be precise). You can plug the device for 30mins and you're ready to go for a day. I would rate the battery performance 4.5/5.Software: Oxygen OS is the best skin for android in my opinion. It's fast, snappy and closer to stock android experience, it only gets better with the regular updates and security patches. You will get 3 years of regular android and security updates. It's an easy 5/5 for software.Pricing : I was disappointed when I saw 700$ price point for 8 but was geniunly suprised when OnePlus priced it for 45k in India. Still it's a lot costlier than the 7t. If you're on really tight budget you can 7t, but if you can afford 45k then this is the best mobile for the price point. Please don't get a device only for it's 5G capability let's be honest it would take atleast 2 to 3 years for 5G to be launched in India. If you want the best camera on par with iPhone 11 pro and Huawei p40 pro you can go for OnePlus 8 pro which is 10k more than 8. I would rate value for money as 4/5.Verdict : You can't go wrong with the OnePlus 8 it has the best display, performance, good battery life, good camera and best soflware experience you can get. I absolutely love this device. Thankyou for reading my long ass review hope you guys find it helpful.
