Some differences from what the product listing describes
The GMT-18A (now discontinued) has worked well for me for many years. I've used all its functions except decibels, which, according to the manual, "is used primarily by electronics technicians to measure the power gain in transistors, and is rarely encountered in home project applications."But the description shown on amazon.com and most other websites doesn't match the product specs. The description says the dimensions are 1.5 X 4.8 X 7.9 inches. The instruction manual says "approx 109mm X 70mm X 33mm". That converts to 4.3 X 2.8 X 1.3 inches, about what I measure with a ruler. With leads inserted, the 1.3" dimension becomes about 1.5". The test leads do take up space beyond that occupied by the meter but not as much as implied. This meter is indeed "compact".The description says that the high end of the scale for AC voltage is 700 volts. It's actually 1000 volts. The description says, "The unit features an audible continuity buzzer and a convenient carrying handle." I don't recall ever hearing such a buzzer or reading about one in the manual. And if there used to be a handle, it's been lost for many years.

It will do the job I need to do!
Did not need the complete unit, I just needed the leads. Those were not available.

Lasted 20 years
I bought one of these 20 years ago and it worked great. (Until today.) Useful for testing battery strength and a whole host of other things. On a single AA battery it runs for several years.
