CURLSMITH - Curl Defining Styling Soufflé - Vegan Medium Hold Styling Gel for Wavy, Curly and Coily Hair (16oz)

Perfect gel cast hold that doesn't leave my hair heavy, hard, or looking like it is wet. My hair has never looked so shiny or bouncy, it does such a great job at getting the initial cast I need for my hair to dry and is probably the best gel I have used in terms of breaking the cast and being left with a soft bouncy curl. In the past with other gels I have struggled to break the cast and this gel does not make it difficult at all. After using this gel I went from only lasting 3-4 days to easily almost 8-9 with great looking curls and almost no retouches. The application feels gross at first on your hands, it almost feels like alcohol and very drying on the hands/hair but does not actually have a drying affecting on the hair. If anything it feels like my hair is more hydrated and voluminous after using it. No strong smells. Overall very happy with the gel! You don't have to use a lot either.

I have a mix of all of the Type 2 curls. I have fine hair that usually frizzes out of control. I used to live somewhere where soft water was a thing, now I live somewhere where it’s only hard water.This curlsmith soufflé is the best product I’ve ever used for my hair.1. A little goes a long way, LESS IS MORE.2. It MUST be applied to sopping wet hair - in the shower or re-wet over the sink.I starting using more of this product because I changed up my routine in the morning - and my hair started to look thin and like I had 4 curls on my head. Randomly one day I decided to stop using this, but as my hair started to frizz out of control, I was like ok I’ll just re-wet and use a little to control the frizz and I what I ended up with was the nicest, softest, fuss-free curls. For fine hair, the key really is to use 50% less than you think you need then go from there. And your hair must be sopping wet. With these 2 tricks, I don’t even get a cast or have to crunch, it’s just perfect as soon as it’s dried - with all of my separate curls, a bunch of volume, and no frizz!I have tried Innersense curl cream and I can’t get it to do what this product does, so for me this product wins. Though I do prefer Innersense shampoo and conditioner…

I've tried a lot of curly gels but this is my favorite by far. It holds well but isn't crunchy. The slip is perfect.

Pricey, but worth it!

This product is nice enough. I get the feeling that I've not really unlocked its full potential. I have thin, low porosity hair that ranges from 2B to 3A. It took a LOT of trying different methods to get be able to use this product without ending up with crispy, piece-y waves. I would say this is not for low-maintenance hairstyles. It definitely wants hair to be pretty wet when its used, though I can get away with only about a nickel size amount on all my hair. Then I use a denman brush to shape my waves before diffusing. I have never had much luck air drying with this product or simply scrunching. The smell is very pleasant and I do feel like it offers a strong hold, and the cast scrunches right out when dried, provided I didn't use too much. My hair tends to be frizzy and this helps to an extent.I first bought the smallest size and it lasted me a good long while, so while it is expensive I do feel like I got my money's worth. This time I got the larger size and I was extremely disappointed to discover upon arrival that the product had opened up in the envelope and squirted out. I lost a good inch off the top. For something that costs $40, I would have hoped there would at LEAST be some kind of guard against that. Heck even a piece of tape over the lid would have sufficed. I have to wonder if it was a used product to not have even one of those removable tabs under the lid. That's mainly why I knocked off a star.

I have tried and liked so many gels from this brand, but the search is over. I have fine, medium density 2B & C and 3A hair. Effortless waves was excellent but had to use sooo much, Flex jelly really nice during certain times of year but always had to finish with a hair spray for hold, shine gel was way to heavy but the soufflé is the end. I can use this as a single styler on soaking wet hair and my hair looks great for 3 days with just a water refresh. No crunch. Sold. I purchased the 2 oz to test out and the 16 oz delivered today. Just right. Smell is nice but would prefer an unscented version.

Meh, over rated. It’s just okay

Helps curls to finish nicely, while staying soft and natural. Never stiff or frizzy.
