Intel is not done for but in this cycle AMD is supporting a single socket standard (AM4 for Ryzen) across multiple generations of processors. Intel's current socket, on the other-hand, is at end-of-life and it is rumored Intel is going to change the socket soon. When you combine this with Zen 2's enormous power efficiency and excellent all-around performance, it makes very little sense to buy into a new Intel system for the desktop at this time. Eventually Intel will catch up, but they will need to do it with 10nm desktop production on a stable socket. Their rumored 10-core CPU on 14nm won't do the job... it will simply be too power hungry compared to the 3900X. -Matt
