Volkman Seed Avian Science Super Cockatiel with Sunflower Bird Food 4lb

My cockatiel loves this seed mix😊

It is as advertised. Much better than the run of the mill box store feeds. One thing to be aware of when comparing to other brands is the nutritional value. I've noticed with a lot of seed blends, they include crunchy bits that my birds typically do not eat. Most likely, those crunchy bits are where most of the vitamins are contained. So even though that food may appear to be nutritionally sound, if your pet does not eat those particular bits - it may not be the best thing for them. Volkman doesn't include those crunchy bits and my birds eat just about all of what is included so I am sure they are getting a decent diet. This seed is also very clean in that it doesn't contain the dust that some others do. It appears to be very fresh as well.

My cockatiel seemed to like it

I've been amazed at how much my bird likes this food. AND I don't think this is a coincidence, but suddenly after a few days eating this bird food, Sam, my Cockatiel who has always been afraid of me, has suddenly become friendly!! This is the strangest thing as I have had a Cockatiel and other birds before. I'm wondering if it is because the seed is fresher or has some kind of seed he missed in his other food I'd bought for years...? Whatever it is it's amazing! I've had this bird for 4 years since he flew to my sister's car as she parked to go into work. It was winter in Oklahoma and she was able to catch him. He has never been handled as the times I've tried he would freak out. It didn't matter--he has a very large cage we bought him (my sister has a cat and could not keep him) and I have a dog. He has lots of toys and suddenly has taken more interest in those, as well. I can now tell him to "come here and give me a kiss" and he will actually come to me! He won't give a kiss, but does a sweet low whistle as if he's talking--just amazing!!

My bird vet recommended this seed years ago. My cockatiels love it.

I live the variety of seeds and dried fruits in this mix. I have tried other and they were just seeds. This mix has such a wonderful smell when you open the bag. It makes me feel like I'm giving my birds the best.

Reluctant to give three stars. Found out that sunflower seeds are fattening and can lead to obesity and liver problems. Luckily my little guy doesn’t even like them and tosses them out so I’ve started picking every single sunflower seed out of the bag before feeding and the past few days he’s also picked through what I think is some form of nut or corn or something that now I’m gonna have to pick out as well. I should have researched a better quality food for him because it’s very time-consuming picking out all these things that are not good for him. Was a waste of my money.

Volkman’s Cockatiel food is the best for our little Cockatiel “Chico” it’s fresh, not loaded with sunflower seeds as filler & it’s nutritious for our little feather baby. This is the 5th bag that I’ve ordered & she loves it!
