I tried this on a whim. I am tired of my slightly older car not having any kind of CarPlay adapter or screen. So I bought a phone case from these folks with magnets in it, and this car dashboard mount adapter. It was easy to install, stays in place, and had enough ways to adjust it so that I was able to get my phone to be right where I wanted it to be. Now I am already totally used to having my phone float in front of the dash where I can see it to navigate, but it's not in my hand or in my line of sight or etc. Works great.

Absolute waste of time! Will NOT stick on! Even without my phone it fell off the window! Returned.
