I had to have dental work done. I just can't handle the dentist, I'm just so scared. I ordered these to practice keeping my mouth open and over coming my fear. Let me tell you, none of that happened.I was able to use my own bite block but I couldn't control my hands, even when I was asked to sit on them, they just kept reaching for the drill.So, yeah, I got kicked out. I ended up having to be put to sleep to get a crown (how pathetic). The sad part is, I even managed to get kicked out of there too, even tho I was unconscious because I was very uncooperative. I bit the bite block so hard I cracked a back molar, so guess who needs another crown... me!This was like a whole summer project, that lasted until the fall. That's how much time I spent practicing and pepping myself up for this dental work.On a good note, my dog likes the bite block, she ate it, l think it was a sign.Guess who flosses once a day and brushes after every meal.. <-- this girl!

I got these along with cheek retracters to help me brush the teeth of my special needs child. I was being bitten, mouth clamped closed and cheeks sucked in. After about 3 uses (so a day and a half if you brush 2xs a day) they realize mommy isn't playing and tooth brushing is happening no matter what and they get used to the feel of brushing.They started making funny mirror faces and drooling and now its just normal. These have lasted over a year and no wear (and one of my kids is a biter). The cheek retracters snapped in half after a year but these are still around and we don't even need to use them much anymore bc it helped them get used to teeth brushing without frustration. So so helpful for special needs parents who are worried about dental hygiene habits and refusal to brush. We started w the small size for my 3yr old and they go up to adult size so these will be useful as they grow. Get these and cheek retracters and stop fighting with your child to brush their teeth!

I like to use for my tmj. Maybe I have a big mouth, but I found these a bit too small and I wished there was one size bigger. My preferred stretching height for my jaw is 1.5 inches. I still have a few wine corks that are closer to the right size, but I love the way these are angled.

After neck and back surgeries- and having TMJ - holding my mouth open for extensive dental work is a nightmare and sometimes impossible.. These are perfect! Used them yesterday for a 3 hour sitting - dentist told me "we have these! why didnt you tell me you needed one" - I didnt know they existed and when someone told me - amazon was my go-to ... They are soft enough to not hurt your teeth, cheeks, lips - but strong enough they dont give when you are exhausted. Dentist threw it in his sterilizer and we used it - Green was my size. They sterilized and kept in my file for next time. Very Happy with purchase - and today, my jaw and neck are not sore like the last long appt ... so very happy...

I grind my teeth at night, so my jaw muscles are often tense, which makes it hard to hold my mouth open for extended periods of time when I'm getting dental work done. I used this during a recent root canal and my jaw muscles didn't get tired or uncomfortable at all! It really helped me feel relaxed. I will be bringing it to every dentist visit from now on.

Bought to keep back for an emergency type event. They appear to be of solid quality.

I clench my jaw and grind my teeth-24/7. Have tried every mouth guard out there, with little relief. Used this for about 1/2 hour last night, and when I took it out, jaw was in a "neutral" position. When I tried to clench my jaw, it wouldn't close that tight. No headache this morning. Will use it more, and update my review

Absolutely worthless. If someone wants to close their mouth, these flimsy things won’t stop them at all. Look for a different product.
