Q: How big is the opening to walk thru the gate?

Q: How far apart are the bars? Ones person said 2 1/2 inches another said gate bars 4-5 inches, I want this gate to keep 2- 5 lb Maltese dogs in room ?

Hello! The rails on the gate are 2.5" apart and the rails on the extensions are 2.75" apart.

Q: What's the trick to get one of the longer extensions to attach to the gate? It looks like the extension (both) are about a 10th of an inch too short.

The longer extension can only be attached the side of the gate that is further from the gate latch. I finally figured this out. Took a while since it contradicts what the instructions say to do.

Q: Why is the 2 pack cost more than buying 2 individual gates?
