Dove Refillable Deodorant Starter Kit 0% Aluminum Cucumber & Green Tea Aluminum Free Deodorant 1.13 oz

All of the refills I got through Amazon broke off at the base after around a week or two of usage.I bought these refills off Amazon because my local Target no longer stocked refills, but the quality control for these is so bad. Target stock never broke off and I loved the reusable deodorant, so I bought lots off Amazon. I bought both scents, lavender and cucumber, and even got my best friend the case. When the first one broke, I figured it’s summer, it’s hot, one or two defects in a batch is no biggie. I threw it away and swapped to another. However, the second one also broke off at the base after barely a week. The deodorant fell on the floor with hair and dust all over it. The nearly full deodorant was badly dented. I am not putting that picture online.At this point, I was worried but I figured it was summer and I wanted to give Dove a chance. It is winter now and cold, so I swapped in another refill. It broke after a week as well! They all like to fall to my floor too :c I was trying so hard to be careful with it, swiping with the thicker side and stuff. I’m now down to my last refill but I already see a crack… I’m pretty sure this one will bite the dust too. I’m not going to ask for refunds for personal care items, but I’m severely disappointed.

I finally got a new refill part after the first one I bought was destroyed (broke into pieces.) So I carefully opened the plastic storage for the refill. I left the refill in the top portion in there and carefully attached the refill to the steel base and gently moved it to click in place and it worked without destroying the refill.I don't know if I just got a bad batch on the first one but this one worked much better which also has a wonderful, light scent which I don't mind and it's easy to use. Now the true test will be how long it will stay in place without falling off the base as I have seen some videos here.

I loved the starter kit. The green glycerin-like deodorant was great and lasted forever. The replacement unit was off from the start. The width of the base of the replacement unit was slightly larger than the original, making it harder to open and close the top (had to work it back and forth). This may have contributed to the deodorant snapping off at the base before I was able to use it. Also, the paint on the inside of the top started to peel off, I think from the larger-than-before base of the deodorant. By this, I mean the green plastic piece the deodorant sits on. It's a shame I can't figure out which refill would have the green glycerin-looking deodorant, because I would buy that again (this is opaque white). I did read the other reviews first, and bought it anyway because I was so happy with the starter deodorant.*editing to add...I used a glass nail file to slightly file down the sides of the green base. This has helped with my second refill. Now I gently rock the top off end to end (not side to side) and I've had three successful days without it snapping off.

I switched from aluminum-based deodorant a few years ago, and unfortunately, I have not found the perfect replacement, but I am always on the hunt. I usually love Dove products and was excited for this 0% version, extra bonus that it was refillable and better for the environment; I even bought two so I could keep one at home and one in a travel bag. Unfortunately, I recycled both without repurchasing. Scent was fine, formula was a bit too soft and wet and the construction of the applicator made it practically impossible to apply. Like other users have said, it breaks off at the base, and it's way too soft and melty to smoosh it back on or even try to use it with your fingers. Great concept, failed design. The search continues.

This is my go to deodorant. I love the smell and the ability to travel with it in my purse. I went to a wedding and it was great because it was small enough for my clutch and it was very discreet. No one knew what it was when I pulled it out my bag looking for a mint, lol. The case is very durable. I've dropped it with no damage to the deodorant while changing the deodorant refill and super easy to wipe clean.On the OTHER side, I have broken two. The design of the deodorant in the plastic piece is awful, poor design, and very unstable. Once it breaks, the deodorant not the case, you can't really use it unless you want to use your hand as applicator. I've tried, it has a greasy feeling on your hands. It has the same feeling to your hands if you put too much chapstick or lipgloss on your fingers. NO WEIRD feel on your arm pits unless you apply to much. Very light deodorant for your arm pits. I want to try to mens to see if it was the same.NOT FOR ACTIVE/SPORT NEEDS. If you get warm easily or doing any activity besides standing still or sitting, it needs to be reapplied several times with activity.Overall, nice if you don't do much activity, very lightheaded with putting on deodorant, or just need something to travel with.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I picked this to try, so I could reduce the amount of liquids for air travel. This was the perfect solution. I have had no trouble with this as I changed the direction of how to hold it. Instead of holding it horizontal (a natural thing to do - it will break that way which I noticed), I hold it vertical. No breaks, applies great. Reordering more seeing my test of how this works has been successful.

I would give this product 0 stars if I could. I bought this for a month long vacation to Australia/New Zealand. I followed all instructions to put the product together carefully, but the lid would not stay in place and keep falling off. Okay not big deal I put a rubber band around it to keep it in place. Then the first time I used it the hole thing fell apart. the deodorant part of the product just crumbled and fell off making the deodorant unusable. I had to just throw it all away. The window to return the item closed March 3rd! I did not return from our trip until March 6th.
