Q: What is the *height* of the 30-inch wide panel? E.g. how far does it go from the top of the desk to the floor?

It is just over 15" top to bottom.

Q: For the 60" version, can i just use two panels for 40" coverage?

There is only a single 60" panel that can't be broken into separate panels so it would be too large for a 40" install. They do have a 30" version that would work but wouldn't give you quite full coverage on 40".

Q: Is 30" the length or the width? What is the other measurement? 30" by what? Do both sides have the mesh? If not, what does the other side look like?

The length is either 30 or 60 inches. The inside has mesh that opens up to fit wires then velcros closed. The outside has a mesh feel but there it is not see through as there is a black piece of fabric in the middle of the front and back
