Koh-i-noor Mondeluz Aquarell Drawing Set. 72 Colored Pencils.

I found these quite comparable to other popular, expensive watercolor pencils. The colors are very vibrant; low-quality sets lack pigment and are often all pastel colors when you use them. These activate nicely with water. I highly recommend them. My only complaint may not bother anyone else, but it bugs me that my set came with a pink pencil sharpened on the wrong end, so now I don't know the color number. I like to swatch my art supplies for easy reference, and my set has #s 1-72 minus #10, 11, 12, 14, 37, 39, 40, 46, 49, 50, and 51. In their places are numbers 127, 170, 177, 178, 179, 180, 181, and 182. The listing describes the pencils by colors and not their numbers, so it is not an issue. Three of the blues appear to be close to the same hue; other than this, it is a good range of colors.

These are quality and enjoyable pencils. Soft, not waxy texture similar to Inktense which I LOVED. Also the colors are vibrant and mix well. In my photo, I compared these to Faber-Castell's GoldFaber, and while I think the pigmentation is good on both, I chose Mondulez because of the feel on the paper. Highly recommend these pencils.The packaging, and brushes and garbage though, but at $40 for 72 pencils they're practically giving them away!! Blend beautifully and are also wonderful dry, which I cannot say for Goldfaber

The swatches I did for the most part break down nicely with water. Most of the lead is soft and easy to lay down color. When adding water, the pigment is easy to move and mix with other colors. I have no idea if they have any lightfast information. I didn’t see anything in the set I bought. The box is quite flimsy, not good for travel. But I can see myself grabbing a small amount of pencils in a case along with a water brush and having a fair amount of fun.

I wanted to get these as a backup to my 24 pc. set, while providing the additional pallet diversity. I noticed that my pencils in the 24pc tin had color names printed on them, a gold tipped end and a 3720/ prefix for the color number (eg 3720/4 for Dark Yellow vs 3710/4 with no color name in the 72 pc set) While the colors lay down silky smooth and dissolve similarly, the colors in the 72 pc set do not include all of the colors in the 24 pc set. I'd found a 72 color Koh-I-Noor swatch sheet - 2017 Chartpak, that did show all the colors in the 24 were contained in the 72pc set. Just not so with this set - I could have figured that out if I'd taken the time to go through every one of the images that showed the pencils in the 72pc set listing on Amazon. I see that Koh-I-Noor does make a different 72 piece set (not on Amazon) . The missing colors include Carmine, Pink, Light Violet, and Prussian Blue. That said, there are plenty of colors, including colors similar to the missing ones and the pencil medium quality is good. The core mediums lays down smoothly and dissolve nearly completely with water - or dissolves completely if you just lay down a light layer. I was hoping to get the more diverse pallet without losing my experience with the 24pc set colors. So, I will just be making my own color swatches using the pencils from both sets so that I will be able to see the differences and substitute appropriately. Also, be aware that this 72pc set does not come in a tin and only has flimsy plastic trays with a cardboard storage arrangement. It's OK for studio work, but you'll need other arrangements if you go into the field. On the plus side, this set does come with a simple manual sharpener and 3 small round watercolor brushes - sizes 3, 8 and 9

These watercolor pencils are easy to use, activate with minimal amount of water (I prefer water pen over brush), and the colors are gorgeous!The first pic shows application of watercolor pencils with only the rabbit being activated, while the second and third pic shows the entire picture activated with water. The images are printed on Southworth specialty card stock. I did receive one pencil with no markings and crushed on one end. I believe it was packed thst way because the box it shipped in was perfect as well as all of the other pencils. Unfortunately, the seller informed me that it could not be replaced as they no longer have them. Disappointing as I thought that we could replace individual colors. But, I am thoroughly enjoying them and would buy them again!

Opened the flimsy box and the pencils weren't in a tin. I like to keep my pencils in the original tin I purchase them in. That was the first thing that was in the description. It was just disappointing. These don't have the gold tips?

These pencils came in a cardboard box with 3 Koh-I-Noor brushes and 2 pencil sharpeners. The pencils didn't have the lovely gold ends I thought were on these pencils but the price is considerably lower than the sets with tins. The pencils have numbers but no color names on them. The color names can be found as well as the numbers. All but 10 of the numbers were the numbers on the older sets in tins. It was confusing and took a while to match the newer numbers to the color names. I did a spreadsheet (in the picture) to help me organize these. The numbers were similar to the polycolor set but had the little brush symbol on the barrel to show they are watercolor pencils.

The pencils arrived today but but they don't come in a tin. They come in cardboard and plastic! Plus the pencils were all over the place!
