Very very very good!
I know it has sugar alcohols but if you are trying to cut back on sugar but you still have a hankering for licorice…buy this. Both my husband and I love it.

Meh
Valiant effort. That’s why this product has a 4 rating. But this doesn’t taste like black licorice. I vote to eat the real stuff with sugar but in moderation.

Delicious and fresh
I love everything from Sweet Gourmet! This black licorice is fresh, perfectly textured, and tastes absolutely amazing (especially for a sugar free product). At about 11 calories a piece, it’s a diabetic bargain as well.

It's not hard licorice, ok to suck on.
The taste is good but the texture is horrible if you like hard licorice. I almost threw it in the trash because of the texture so I tried one sucking on it and it was okay.To me, licorice is supposed to be hard and chewy, not mushy.

Very Good.
Very high quality black licorice and taste very good even for sugar free candy.

Best Licorice for Me
I have been diabetic since 1993, and this sugar-free licorice is the best I have found. The flavor reminds me of the licorice I bought as a child for a nickel. The cost for the one-pound bag seemed reasonable to me. The package I got was fresh, the candy was soft, and there was no crumbling.Notes:1. As with all foods, whether these are good is a matter of personal taste. While other reviewers found it too strong, I really liked the licorice flavor.2. These are repackaged, and the nutrition label is unreadable.3. Do not eat too much. Malitol is the principal ingredient. Malitol is a sugar alcohol, and there are issues with gas or a laxative effect if you eat too much. Each person's tolerance to sugar alcohols vary, so start with a few pieces and work your way up. There are fewer problems for me if I do not eat these on an empty stomach.4. As with all foods, the glycemic effect for each person is different. For diabetics, I recommend comparing your blood-sugar levels on days that you do and do not eat this. Eating a few pieces each day has no noticeable impact on my blood-sugar levels.
