Yes, these are packaged separately and are the very big kind. I'm still on 1st one from 4mnths back.

Q: So what if there is no water around what can I use to moisten it

Assuming that there is no other liquid with which to moisten the Styptic pencil, I would use saliva. It really doesn't take much liquid to activate the pencil. The Styptic pencil is meant for small cuts, such as shaving cuts, but is does work quite nicely on other types of SMALL cuts.

Q: 1. How many sticks are included- photo shows only 1? 2. Is each stick 1oz?

3 packages are delivered of exactly what is shown in the images: 1 stick of 1oz. in each package x 3...so 3 pencils total. These are excellent and last forever (unless you nick yourself daily).
