Great addition
This is a great addition to my car. I am able to travel around every. Where and have constant contact with other ham? Operators, it's very mobile and small can fit in my commuter. Car has other additions and hookups. In the back and up to 50 W, you're able to get some serious power out of this small rig? The buttons and functionality on the head unit. It's clear and crisp. The only issue that I'm having is not being able to find a suitable screen protector as I am very particular on covering the entire screen. And every screen protector that I have purchased for this has fallen short.

My first HAM and happy with the purchase
I paired this radio with a TRAM PRE TUNED 144MHz-148MHz antenna and am very happy. I’m able to attend the local radio conversations. Radio is very clear and also transmits very clear as well. It took a few days of just sitting down and figuring out controls and setting up the Memory Banks, but afterwards, it became second nature. One thing I would recommend though is try transmitting on LOW power if you’re in a HAM shack. When I used it on HIGH power it shut down the radio (from too high of SWR).

Doesn't seem to do what I wanted.
Everything else works really well.

Wish radio displayed CTCSS frequencies.
Have have had this FTM-6000R radio for a few days. It seems to work really well with home ham shack set up. One feature I don't like - it does not display the actual CTCSS frequency - only displays "+/-TSQ". Not sure why Yaesu did this as my Yaesu FT3D HT does display the actual CTCSS frequency. This radio also does NOT display 2m/440 bands at the same time. I see that some don't like that feature, but not displaying dual bands doesn't bother me.

Not as simple to program as Yeasu advertises
Yaesu advertises "new User Operating Interface - E2O-III (Easy to Operate – III)" This is just not so. They have two manuals, the Operating Manual 45 pages and the Advanced Manual 33 pages and they encourage the user to fully read both manuals. So 78 pages is necessary to describe just how easy this radio is to use. But after spending most of a day I have it all tuned up and I give it 5 stars because it is a very nice radio but simple its not. Simple monitoring was in the 1930s and 40s. We had a Zenith radio in the living room and I would tune just above the broadcast band and listen to the police calls. That was simple monitoring.
