Joseph Joseph Intelligent Waste Compost Bin Food Waste Caddy with Odor Filter and Ventilation, 1 gallon / 4 liters, Stone

I purchased the stone color countertop model a couple of months ago, once I decided it was finally time to start separating and recycling my food waste (we have a municipal collection program). This model was more expensive than some others I considered, but it looked sturdier and more attractive. I'm extremely pleased with it. I keep the bin on my countertop next to my cutting board and I don't mind the look of it at all. It is easy to use (lid has a convenient tab for opening and it stays propped open well when you're chopping etc., and the size of the bin is perfect for my family (which ranges from 2-5 people depending on who is around). When the lid is closed, the bin is odor-proof. I ended up buying the FORID 1.2 gallon small compostible bags as liners and they work well. You can twist the excess bag length and catch it in the designated hole in the base of the bin to keep the bag tight. All in all, a great product.

This is a great size and not too unsightly for keeping on the kitchen countertop. Keeps smells in pretty well! Works with or without liner bags. Easy to clean. The carbon filter square gets gross pretty easily, and when it's removed from the lid for cleaning, fruit flies start accumulating. So I'd recommend having replacement squares on hand.

It is pretty and cool looking. I, however, wish it is a bit bigger.

I read several reviews on compost units for in the house and decided to try this one. The filter really does keep pail from smelling. It's a little awkward to dump into my bigger compost bin but I like the size of the unit in general. It's perfect for using a grocery bag to line the inside. Allows us to recycle the 500 plastic grocery bags we usually have laying around.

After using this for a couple of months, I love this little thing. The carbon filter really works. I left home for a couple of days and didn't realize there were things growing until I opened it to use it. That being said super easy to clean, it doesn't have a ton of nooks and crannies. Also even though I was tempted to get a steel one, I'm glad I got this sturdy plastic one because I've never had an issue with rusting or leaking.

Looks much better than the bowl I was using for vegetable /fruit scraps! I have a sleek contemporary kitchen and this is not an eye-sore. Holds a lot , no odour. Just great. Worth the expense.

After our garbage disposal clogged and it took my poor husband 3 1/2 hours to fix it, I decided never again, so I bought this. It has a compact footprint, doesn't take up much space on my countertop, the bags fit perfectly, and voila! no more garbage disposal problems. Now I only use use the garbage disposal for small things that won't clog, and anything else goes in the Joseph garbage container. The only thing I don't like about it is you just about need four hands to stretch the bag to fit onto the container, but I manage to get the job done. All in all, a great and very sturdy little item!
