No, you cannot just use the middle part alone of this VASAGLE TV Stand as the legs are designed to fix on the 3 parts. The center piece's width of this item is about 29.3 cm/74.5 cm.

It can. The whole stand is quite substantial and the middle shelf is similarly quite sturdy.
