If you’re struggling to give your pet insulin injections buy this!
Our sweet little dog was diagnosed with diabetes & was prescribed daily insulin injections. We struggled to give him his injections & he absolutely hated it. He would fight & buck & cry. It was horrible & I was in tears every time I had to give him his shot. We seriously considered putting him up for adoption. I desperately searched for an alternative to the preloaded insulin pens (which were too expensive for us) & thankfully found the Autoject. It literally changed our lives & made administering our buddy’s shot a breeze. It does take several attempts to get the adjustments correct but is worth the time, even if it means a few less than perfect injections at the beginning. Our little buddy is doing great! His insulin levels are perfect & happy endings all around. I am only sorry that our Vet didn’t recommend this product to us when I mentioned we were struggling. It would have saved all of us months of suffering & tears.

A Real Godsend
We adopted a cute seven year old Scottish Terrier from a rescue agency. Having a medical background, we soon noticed signs of diabetes—confirmed by the vet. Administering the insulin injections was horrific. He became a bucking bronco. Pound for pound, this has to be the strongest dog on earth. It was not unusual to attain only partial injections as he pulled away. I even partially injected myself once. This device was a piece of cake to use. He hardly noticed it and struggled very little. The struggling will disappear altogether with time. This equipment is wonderful. We will buy another as backup, as we never want to return to the manual injection. As a follow-up after a year, this device continues to work well. There is not even a flinch when he receives his injection. We hold-back a small portion of the meal to feed him after the injection as reward/reinforcement.

Removes Needle Prick Discomfort
Like other reviewers, I also use the Owen Mumford Autoject Ei injector (Aj1310) for Trimix injection. I don't have a concern about needles but by using an auto-injector, I don't experience the short duration pain associated with the needle piecing the skin when doing a manual injection.I do like the black injection progression rod on the top of this injector. One can visually see the speed of injection and the completion of the injection. Also, if the injection doesn't completely empty the syringe, one can simply push the black progression rod to finish. The one downside I have with this auto-injector is that the depth adjustor doesn't screw in far enough for using the BD (Becton Dickinson) 0.3 mL (30 units) Insulin syringes (U-100) with a 1/2" needle, which are the ones I would prefer to use. Instead I use the BD 0.5 mL (50 units) syringe with a 1/2" needle, which does allow for sufficient penetration with the 1/2" needle.

It works! It’s easy!
Good instructions included. Removed my worries about giving self injections. Works wonderfully well.

The box was open and teared
New device box should be wrapped in a plastic cover but this wasn't and the box was damaged on both sides. All the parts of the device seems to be in place but not sure if I should use it.

Works As Intended
Your syringes may be too stiff for the spring loader in this device, so work the syringe to loosen them up, before adding the dosage. With that caveat, I've never had a failure. Hitting the right spot is extremely important, but that's up to the operator, not this device. I aim for between 2-o'clock and 3-o'clock, closer to 2-clock, one thumb-width down from the head. The injection is quick and almost painless.

Works well
Had a different type that cost about the same, but busted pretty quick. This one seems to be better built, and it definitely works. If I have one gripe it's that setting the plunger shouldn't require disassembly, but it just adds a few seconds to the process

Keep the needle centered in the device
The device worked well when the dosage required the needle to be fairly full, as extending the top of the needLe helped stabilize the needle in the device. However when I needed a small dosage, I found out that the needle moved around in the holder and as a result the needle never protruded from the holder at all, and the needle just squirted the medication inside the device rather than injecting it into my skin. I need to devise some way to keep the needLe properly aligned to prevent this malfunction. This is a follow-up to the information above. I am continuing to have problems with the device because the needle does not stay centered when only a small amount of medicine is loaded in the needle. The spring-loaded push bar will snap down on the needle, and the needle will tilt rather than extending the point through the intended injection spot, preventing the point of the needle from properly extending from the device. The needle will be 'stuck' at an angle, and the medicine will be dispensed inside of the device rather than into the intended injection site. Not sure what I can do to fix this, but I know it is fixable. I will experiment, and if I find a solution, I will post it here. But right now, I cannot recommend this device for use with standard injection needles. Perhaps there are other needles available that will stay centered, but they would have to have a larger diameter cartridge than the ones available locally at the local pharmacy. When the needle stays aligned, which frankly is rare, or when the cartridge contains a lot of the medication and the stem is extended farther, the device works great.
