Q: Why do you guys charge $700 for 150 feet of extra cord? Seems like a total ripoff.

Hi, the prices are set by Kasco Marine (the manufacturer), and are set at the lowest allowed by Kasco. Q: I have 10 guage wire running about 700 feet to the pond. Is this enough juice for this unit?

With the kind of distances you are referencing in your question we strongly recommend consulting with a competent master electrician who knows the local code in your area. We cannot give you an opinion on this matter due to the complexity and risk involved with running electric service at such distances and voltages. That said, it may be best for you to consider 240 volt service to your pond. Just a thought. Sorry we cannot be more detailed in our answer but this is one best left to the electrical experts. Q: Does the control box plug into a standard outlet? Or does it need to be hard wired?

Hello Christopher, Thanks for asking! Yes, the unit will plug into a standard outlet with a 3 prong plug, hard wiring is the better option according to the manufacturer. Q: Can you get it without the control box?

I am sorry, but no this product is only sold with a control box. All Kasco Marine units come with the safety and security of UL Certification from United Labs. The UL certification requires the use of a control panel with a human rated GFCI for protection. Electricity and water do not mix and the control panel prevents any safety issues.
