A bit of work
Making these along with the accompanying syrup is a little bit of work. But I imagine it would be a heck of a lot more work if you had to create these little bowls from scratch.Following the recipe, they were very good.

Kral Kemalpasa Turkish Dessert
A product of Turkey these cheese pastries require cooking in a sugar syrup. This is my first taste of this sweet so I can’t compare them to any others but they are very good although after absorbing the syrup, they are quite sweet. The instructions on the back of the package are to add 33.81 ounces of water, 4 1/2 cups of sugar and 4 or 5 drops of lemon juice to a saucepan, stir well, put on the heat and then add the entire package of pastries. (I made half the syrup and cooked half the package).Stir gently every 10 minutes until the syrup comes to a boil (this took less than 10 minutes on my cooktop) then lower the heat and simmer for 30 to 40 minutes. At that point turn off the heat and let rest 10 minutes and then serve. The size is approximately double from beginning to end. I added a few chopped pistachios to garnish although other suggestions are on the bag.Starting out quite dry and hard the finished texture is difficult to describe--sort of a rubbery pancake that requires a bit more chewing but is still tender. After cooking in the syrup the pieces although yielding were not fragile and none fell apart. Two or three would make a good dessert portion and a cup of tea or coffee is a good accompaniment. To estimate shelf-life at the time of this review in October 2022 the Best By date is 7 months in the future but dates may vary.

acquired taste, maybe?
First of all, it is not a dessert, it is an ingredient of a dessert that you are supposed to cook yourself. YOu are to make simple syrup with some added lemon juice for flavor, and cook the little buns in there for 30-40 minutes, ouch, and then let it cool. The buns come rock hard and absolutely tasteless. When you cook them for quite a while, they do soften, but they do not acquire much flavor. It still tastes like cardboard but now soaked in syrup. Maybe I misunderstood the instructions as they were clearly made using google translate. The buns didn't taste stale, they didn't have taste.

Not Simple - Preparation take an hour
Kral Kemalpasa (Cheese) Dessert,In order to enjoy this pastry, you need to make a simple syrup solution which takes about 45 minutes plus another 30 minutes to cool down. This is not a "one and done" dessert. I followed the recipe and it took forever to come together. Once I had the syrup finished and poured over these, I found that the pastry tasted stale. I have had this dessert before and it was creamy and delicious but something might have poked the package and let them dry out because these didn't taste like the ones I have had at a local restaurant. You can also add pistachio or walnut bites to make it even more festive.

Sugar Nuggets!
For the sake of this review and since I don't know what these are called in English, we shall refer to them as 'sugar nuggets'. C'mon, you know it's cute! Before preparing these, they're basically a super hard bread nugget. They don't really have much for flavor or anything. The instructions are translated so they sound a bit odd to English speakers but they are still pretty simple to follow. Basically you boil them for 30 to 40 minutes in sugar water with a few drops of lemon. Make sure your pan is big enough as they do expand. After about 28 to 30 minutes, I could tell mine needed to come out as the sugar syrup was getting very thick. I put them on a plate to sit for 10 minutes as recommended. They caramelize and get almost a crunchy coating. Having never had them before, I don't know if that is the intention but I followed directions so I assume so.Flavor wise, these are SWEET, hence sugar nuggets! If compared to an American food, it would be pancakes drenched in corn syrup. The centers are nice and soft like a pancake as well. The outside, as mentioned, is a caramelized syrup.I wouldn't personally purchase these to make in the future as they're just too sweet for me. However, they were fun to try. Super easy to make and they held up nice. My fear was that they would break all up. Objectively, these seem solid! Subjectively, just not for me!
