Patient Number 9, Ozzy Osbourne's thirteenth solo album, is so much better than I expected it to be. Assisted by a cast of musicians including some of the greatest names in rock (Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Tony Iommi, Chad Smith, Duff McKagan, Mike McCready, Taylor Hawkins and Robert Trujillo, to only name the most famous) the septuagenarian pioneer of early metal delivers a late career highlight and, arguably, his very best album since 1995's Ozzmosis. It improves on 2020's Ordinary Man by eliminating the contemporary and pop elements that made that album such an uneven and unbalanced listen, with the reintroduction of Zakk Wylde for this project most likely making the most difference. There are so many excellent, memorable songs on Patient Number 9, such as No Escape From Now (featuring Tony Iommi), the melodic metal of One Of Those Days (surely the heaviest song Clapton has ever played on?), A Thousand Shades (featuring the distinctive and magical guitar of Jeff Beck), the sleazy, depraved – and, frankly, brilliant – Degradation Rules and the sparkling Dead And Gone. My final pick is God Only Knows, which, to me, sounds like the kind of immense monster ballad John Lennon would have written if he'd have been a metal artist. Patient Number 9 isn't without its flaws; there are some rather ordinary tracks that bring the quality of the record down a little, but the majority of the music here is powerful, infectious, hugely enjoyable and crammed full of Ozzy's inimitable, larger than life character. If all the fears about his health turn out to be justified and this is his final album (hopefully not), then it's a rather impressive finale to a remarkable career.

Fitting final Ozzy album

I've been a Ozzy fan since The Ultimate Sin back in the days of 80's Metal🤘..and this album is one of his best without a doubt, on par with Diary of a Madman & No More Tears. Patient No.9 is an incredible album full of great songwriting from start to finish👌With a Full star cast of Guitar legends.. 🎸 Iommi, Beck, Clapton,McCready & the forever constant Zakk Wylde, Chad Smith on drums and the late great Taylor Hawkins 🥁, Duff Mckagan & Robert Trujillo on Bass🎸 What more do to i need to say✌️ ...10 out of 10 Oz with this collection of tunes, simply brilliant👏 This album will go down as one of his best👍..In Ozzy We Trust 🇬🇧🤘🇺🇲

If you liked Ozzy’s other albums, then there is every reason to suppose that you will like this one too. It has Ozzy’s trademark solo feel with the occasional nod back to early Sabbath. Of course, this offering is made more poignant by the reports of Ozzy’s ill health – lets hope that things go well for him.If this is to be his last album, then it is not a bad way to bow out.Playing time is just over 61 ¼ mins.

I was amazed the last album was as good as it was considering the age of ozzy and his health .This however is simply brilliant .Highlights for me are , Patient number 9 , Parasite , No escape from now , Nothing feels right , Degradation rules , and One of those days .In a nutshell if you like ozzy then just get this it’s superb . I don’t know how many more albums he can make but if this ends up being his last one what a way to finish .
