I bought this knife (the Petrified Fish Flavorist) to add into my every day carry rotation. The blade shape fits well into that role, as it is very versatile; suitable to many different daily tasks. It's slicey enough for breaking down cardboard boxes, yet stout enough for some heavier jobs. The factory edge was quite good, but just a couple passes on a strop made it even better. A quick strop between uses has kept the edge very serviceable. The handles are comfortable in the hand, yet thin enough to also be comfortable in the pocket.I had never tried a front flipper, and this did take a little getting used to. I do sometimes miss having thumb studs to open the knife, but not having them does offer two benefits. First, the studs don't get caught on anything that you're trying to cut. This allows you to use more of the blade without getting hung up. Secondly, there's nothing in the way when you're maintaining the edge. With some knives, I've had issues with the thumb studs making it impossible to set a stone or strop at the correct angle, because the stud is in the way. This knife does not have that issue. No studs means nothing to get in the way.The pocket clip isn't reversible, but that was not an issue for me. If having a reversible clip is something important to you, that would be something to keep in mind with this model.All in all, I really like this knife, and find it to be a good value for the price. If this is an example of what Petrified Fish has to offer, I'll certainly be looking into getting more from their product line.

Good looking, great materials, lockup, and action. This is my first front flipper. The jimping makes it really easy to open and only took a couple of tries to get usto. (FYI) the front flipper is the only way to open the knife. My only nitpick is the mosaic pin doesnt look like the picture. It is missing the copper outer circle that is on the pictures. The pin was the reason I bought this knife. It is a really nice feature. Im not a big fan of front flippers. It was a choice between this knife and the Victor which is a back flipper. By the way this knife gave me a new appreciation for front flippers.

I own knives that cost 15 times as much or more than this knife and this is a great knife. Great. Fall shut smooth action. A blade that is so razor sharp it’s shocking. It’s cuts through everything like it’s warm butter. The gimping for the front flipper runs all the way around the tab. It’s very grippy and makes deploying the blade very easy wether your doing it traditionally or doing little opening tricks. It’s just a really well executed design. I liked it so much I ordered a different model from petrified fish. If that is just as good I will try to buy the whole line. They are amazing value for money. This is my first time using k110 steel. As far as I know it’s basically very similar to d2. From what I read on it it has very good hardness and edge retention and after using the knife for a few days I concur with that. The edge is just as good as when I got it. It’s amazing how good a knife can be at this price point. I highly recommend.

I try to buy non-chinese knives as much as possible but I've heard so much about how these Chinese knives have come such a long way and have features of much more expensive knives. This knife is truly impressive. I've never had a front flipper but deployment is perfect. Excellent jimping on the flipper tab, strong but perfect amount of detent, and silky smooth action. No lock rock, hair-shaving sharp, and the micarta has a nice fit and finish. I still can't bring myself to buy $200+ Chinese mid-techs but at this lower price point, this knife (and I assume all Petrified Fish) can't be beat. I will be trying more of their knives in the future!

Well made, cool handle, simple action.

Been carrying this knife for few weeks now. It's held up through the demand. It's lighter than what I'm use to. I do favor micarta lately so if you're interested in a PF this one will work. It is a front flipper deployment. Might take some getting used to, the detent is perfect

Great knife for the price. Needed something that could take more of a beating than S110V and this doesn't disappoint. I cut through a lot of stuff that has metal behind it and have yet to chip it. Moderate edge retention but can be sharpened with a cheap sharpener. Flipper is a bit stiff at first until u break it in a figure it out. Still can't believe this was only $45.
