Q: Have these chips already been purified and toasted.

The chips are already toasted. These are a light toast. You should sanitize them before use. We recommend using a neutral spirit like vodka for 24 hours, or if you're going to use them in a bourbon/whiskey beer you can pre soak (24 hours) them in your favorite whiskey and then toss the chips and whiskey into the mix.
