Q: What do you use to apply it? Does it stiffen up to withstand moderate blows? Is it easy to paint over? Thanks.

Typically, it is applied with a 2 part plastic resin (polyester resin, vinyl ester resin, epoxy resin) that will react and form a hard plastic. "Bondo" car repair resin is a good example of polyester resin. The fiberglass cloth does not have the resin in it. It is only the cloth. You will need to purchase the resin separately. If you search under "Resin Kit" in Amazon, you would will see many examples.

Q: Does this whet out clear with clear epoxy resin?

Depends on the resin you buy. West System has a resin that dries clear and the 6 oz cloth will be clear.

Q: Is this really 50 yards of material? In the picture, it looks more like 50 feet.
