A Great Heated Blanket
My wife and I wanted a dual control heated blanket for those chill Utah nights. The first one we bought was made by "S", a famous housewares company. There were two controllers but only one plug into the blanket for both controllers so it was not a true "dual control" as one controller controlled both sides. Maybe it just didn't work right. Also, the heating wires ran across the blanket and, as a back sleeper, my toes would feel them. Finally, the controllers did not "go dark" unless the blanket was "off" so you had the annoying LED lights on when the blanket was on. The heating itself was fine.THIS blanket, on the other hand, has two plugs into the bottom of the blanket for true "dual control" function. Nice! Also, the wires are less noticeable than the "S" brand and run head to toe, so I hardly notice them. The controllers go "dark" after just a minute or so even when the blanket is "on", so no annoying LEDs. The heat is powerful and I found that even on level 5 I was quite warm. Unlike the "S" brand, this Westinghouse can be timed in 30 minute increments. The blanket itself is quite soft and makes a good blanket without the heating elements being turned on.I strongly recommend this electric blanket; it costs a bit more but, as my Dad always used to say: "You get what you pay for."

Excellent blanket for camping!
After a long search, this was the blanket that had the features I wanted.Using this while remote camping it is powered by a large battery pack. As expected, this blanket will run the battery pack empty in a single night, however, the blanket works very well and enabled me to sleep through the night when temperatures reached -10 (F) with wind chill. The heat-up cycle takes a while to get going, nearly 45 minutes at freezing temp for it to slowly heat the sleeping bag and blankets above it. and it cycles on/off to maintain it's temp setting. I found that turning it to setting 8-9 for 15 minutes then back down to setting 2 or 3 used less wattage overall than having to run power level 4-5 for 45 minutes to heat the bedding. It's soft, the cord is long, it has a maximum of 12 hour run-time (a key selling point!) and is slightly oversized. It won't burn you but gives a nice even heat.

Excellent plush heated blanket
This is a purchased product, not a Vine review.Let's start with the so-so. As others have mentioned, the blanket's controls are awkwardly designed. The connector placement is an odd choice. You either have to place the connector on the floor at your feet on your left or near your face on the right. I don't have an outlet on my right, so that placement would be awkward having the control cable draped across my chest. Yeah, that's a no. That means having the connector at my feet near the floor. It would have been better to have the connector placed in the center of the blanket which would work correctly for left or right placement.I can't speak to the longevity of the Westinghouse model KTHT-CHDX-Q controller included because I just received this blanket, but I had previously bought a similar throw blanket using the older KTHT-HDX-1 Westinghouse controller a couple years past from HSN. That older controller lasted a little over 2 years before failing. That blanket was nearly twice the price and not as plush. This blanket is quite warm even without the heat. The added heat makes it toasty and nice, but I really wish throw blanket manufacturers would add more heating coils inside the blanket near the feet area.As the black Friday deal, it's worth the price (~$36). If you're paying full price (not black Friday), then you might want to shop around a little. While this is a very nice heated throw, it's not perfect. As for its usability, there are some things that make heated throws not very handy. These blankets are great until you need to wash them. Washing them using the label's instructions is very tedious. Instead, these manufacturers need to settle on requiring the use of the FULL delicate wash cycle (which I do) rather than relying all of these manual gyrations of stopping and starting the washer, washing it for 1 minute, letting it soak, forcing it to drain, then spinning it for a minute or two, rinsing, then spinning it again. The instructions are cumbersome and silly... and it may not even be possible on some washers with electronic controls. Who wants to stand around screwing with the washer for about 15-20 minutes just to wash a blanket? The blanket also places a HUGE care tag of instructions on the front side of the blanket. These care instructions need to be placed on the INSIDE of the blanket, not on the outside. This huge label also needs to be removable. It's not easily removed as it sewn into place, but it can be removed with some effort.Having owned a similar heated throw for 2 years, I have a number of tips. It is best to unplug the blanket from the controller when using the blanket only as a blanket. If you don't plan on using the heat, always unplug the blanket connector from the controller. Better, find another blanket to use instead. Reserve using this throw blanket solely when you want heat. You should also avoid stepping on the blanket's connector. This can be difficult when you situate the blanket so that the connector is sitting on the floor. You'll need to be careful as the heating element inside of the blanket is fairly fragile, which is likely why many controllers are failing on so many of these 1 star reviews. Frequently washing the blanket, then drying it in a dryer can also cause the controller connector to begin to have problems after the connector has banged around in the dryer. To keep the blanket cleaner longer, place another throw blanket underneath this one to avoid the need to wash this heated throw often. If you have a separate non-heated blanket under it, you should only need to separate and wash that one often. The point is, you'll want to keep this heated throw as clean as possible to prevent washing it often. You do that by placing another throw under this one and avoid eating food around or on top of it.Finally, I don't recommend running this blanket on max heat. Even though the blanket is rated to have 7 heat settings, the controller seems unable to handle the highest heat settings for long duration. I believe it is this problem that is a major contributing factor for burning out so many controllers. I've found that the low setting is warm enough for most situations and that it is THIS setting the controller is fully rated to handle for long periods. Using the lowest settings may also extend the longevity of the controller, but there are many factors that contribute to a controller's failure. It's too bad that Westinghouse doesn't sell controller replacements separately.Overall, I like the build quality of this Westinghouse blanket. The faux sherpa interior is quite soft. Unlike my previous blanket which also claimed to have faux sherpa, this blanket's sherpa doesn't get caught on every skin burr it comes across. Fabric types that get caught on skin burrs really, really irritate me. This throw actually truly soft on both sides. The controller is awkward, but it seems to work just fine. Again, try and run it on the lowest setting possible, preferably on L. Even though the blanket has a max setting, the controller doesn't seem rated to handle this high heat setting for long. Thus, I don't recommend running this blanket on max (7) as this setting seems sure to burn the controller out fast(er). It's also what seems to have burned out my older blanket's controller.

Love it!
I am a chilly person and my old blanket died so I had to get a new one. I tried 3 different manufacturers before I found this one, they did not work but this one is great! Nice and soft, plenty big on a king bed and works great! I love the feature that you can pre-set how long for it to run and shut off automatically. I have it set for 30 minutes when I get into bed to warm me up and watch some TV then it shuts off and I don't have to worry if I fell asleep with it on. You can turn it back on with a push of a button, I've had it for over a year now and it's still going strong!
