Nice lines / beautifully distressed leather
More beautiful in person than in the photo. Easy assembly. Beautiful distressed leather.Chair is stiff, lightly padded and does not provide any lumbar support. But comfortable enough and looks Fantastic!!

I really wanted to love this chair
I was hesitant to buy this chair because of the many negative reviews that pointed out the faulty bracket that attaches the upper chair to the base. However, I loved the look of the chair so much that I thought it would be worth the gamble considering the reasonable price. Well, here's my take now that I've had the chair for about three months. The chair arrived well packaged and intact. Assembly was very simple and took only a few minutes to attach the seat to the base post and pop the wheels on. At initial glance I was a little disappointed by the appearance of the chair as the leather didn't look as rich and the wood arm rests looked of less quality than I had expected based on the photos. However, with a little leather conditioner and some teak oil for the wood I had the chair looking significantly better in a few minutes. The teak oil really brought out the wood grain from the arm rests that could not be seen originally. I had to condition the leather a few times as it was extremely dry and just kept soaking up the conditioner. Ultimately, the leather is not of the quality I had initially hoped but I do still like it a lot. It's not a soft and supple leather and has more of a rough and firm feel. It resembles a worn in baseball glove but in a classy, sophisticated way - if that makes sense. The base of the chair seems to be of decent quality but has a layer of paint to give it a distressed look which I don't really care for personally but it's not terrible. Now, onto the big problem with this chair - the seat bracket. At first I thought maybe I was lucky and got a bracket that wouldn't have any issues like others had mentioned in their negative reviews. For about two weeks the chair was solid and didn't give me any issues but after that point the chair began to creak a little. After about a month of use the chair was creaking badly, so badly in fact that I could barely use it any longer due to the annoying sound. Unfortunately there is not way of tightening or adjusting the bracket so I resorted to trying to lubricate it without much improvement. After some additional use the chair started creaking less but began to now rock from side to side. Now, three months in, the chair is so loose and unstable that it's really not safe to use anymore. It feels like it's on the brink of breaking at any moment. I'm of average weight (approximately 170 lbs) and have tried to baby this thing since I knew there were concerns with the durability from day 1. Even still, with regular use the chair is now useless within a few months. Although it is not the most comfortable, I do really love the look of the upper chair so I'm either going to attempt to weld the bracket or replace it with an entirely new base so I can keep using the upper section.

Great looks but poor mechanics.
The chair itself is gorgeous with a very rich feel. It's also very comfortable. However like everyone else says there is a load popping sound when leaning and after about a year I realized what it was because the welds on the inside of the mechanical mechanism on the bottom of the chair gave away. It's only tack welded on two spots in the worse place. I took the part off and took it to a local weld shop and had them weld around the entire sleeve where the hydrologic pump goes into the mechanism and that fixed the issue with no more popping sound. The chair itself is good and great looking that's why I wanted to save it and the weld shop only charged me $30. They need to get a different mechanical system for the bottom and all would be well. I didn't give it 1 star because I do feel that the chair itself is high quality but the mechanics need to be addressed. I would expect a lot better for a chair that's over $400. Also the armrests aren't very comfortable since there's no padding and the base is very skinny and narrow so if you put your feet on it to rest it hurts after a while. But it is a great looking chair and comfortable to sit back in.

Nervous but fine so far
ONE YEAR UPDATE- I didn’t realize it was a year until I saw it on my photo album memories. I can only assume I got a gem among stones. The chair is still great. The popping sound went away.ONE MONTH UPDATE- still comfortable. Still functional. Now it’s making the same popping sound other people have mentioned.FIVE MONTH UPDATE- I still love this chair! Popping sound happens occasionally but isn’t alarming. I see how most people in reviews have had problems but I have still have no issues. Either I got SUPER lucky or Im doing something differently.ORIGINAL REVIEW-For the first time ever I bought a product without reading the reviews. *face palm*I didn't see how horrible they were until I was sitting in it. Here is what I can say so far.1) I find it perfectly comfortable. I am well endowed in the legs and for a moment thought my hips could be too wide. It isn't. My rear and thighs are cradled perfectly.2) The wheels feel cheap. For the price, I expected better.3) It did not arrive broken as mentioned in another review. Everything works including the pump to raise and lower the chair.4) It took less than 5 minutes to assemble.5) The color is a little darker than anticipated.Since everyone else said it broke right away I will come back and update. I will be using it all day everyday so if it's not going to hold up, I'll know quickly. As of now, I'm satisfied.

ACME Furniture not willing to support product
Purchased this item and used for about 1 year before the hardware underneath the chair broke...Called ACME support and they gave me the runaround before ultimately advising me that because I was outside of their window, there was nothing that they could do. Note: my request was not to replace the entire chair but just the metal part underneath that broke. This chair is a really nice looking & comfortable chair but leather scratches easy and for $400, would have hoped that it would have lasted longer than it did. Furthermore, I am big on customer service and although I fully understand customers can be unreasonable on occasion....ACME support didn't, for a second, consider helping me. Would have though what was probably a $10 part to them would be more important than me never purchasing an item from them again.Overall, disappointed with my decision to purchase this chair.
