Brilliant product, well worth the money.
Very impressed with this, it's near silent operation is a huge bonus, it looks like a little piece of art which is an improvement on the ugly plastic one we had previously, it's also much easier to clean as there are only two main parts to it and as it's stainless steel it won't harbour germs either. It comes with a spare pump but it will still last well as the pumps are available from garden centres and pet stores so you certainly wouldn't have to dispose of it like the previous two we've had, would go for this above all the others, the best part is our cat loves it!

Great Water Fountain
This is a great water fountain- we previously had the ceramic version but sadly it cracked after many years of use. This stainless steel version is easy to clean, I put it in the dishwasher once a week. It’s quiet and the cats love it. I like the fact that Pioneer sell replacement pumps etc.

So far, ok - update BAD
Had this for a few weeks now and it is ok. Before I had a pet mate fountain for about 1 year. so I can compare the 2.I wanted to try this Pioneer one as it is stainless steel (comes in ceramic too). I had real problems with the plastic pet mate fountain smelling like old swamp water, its very hard to clean, and as it is plastic, bacteria can harbour in its parts, which is really unsafe for pets. The pump on the pet mate also went after 1 year, which is ok I guess as you can replace them, but I was really concerned about bacteria, I think if you have a dishwasher it probably can get it really clean, but I don't. Cleaning it was horrible. This pioneer is quite loud compared with the pet mate, about twice as loud, too loud in my opinion. You can adjust the speed of the pump and it cools water down just as the pet mate, but the high speed means water splashes just over the edge, so I have to keep it on low. It's quite small, but perfect for cats, perhaps the bigger one would be better for dogs.being stainless steel, I feel happy about being able to keep it clean. Bare in mind the pump is plastic so will need to be cleaned. As I have only had it a few weeks I can't say much more. Pet Mate are possibly releasing a UV fountain like they have in the USA, the UV light kills bacteria, which is great for a low cost plastic fountain.Verdict: I wish pet mate made their fountain in stainless steel or ceramic, I would pay more for it. Or I would really love to try the new UV light one, I hope it comes to the UK soon. I like the pioneer one, but it is a bit too loud, and my cats prefer the falling water and design of the pet mate. This pioneer one is over priced for what it is, but time will tell.UPDATED++++2 months later I had to return this product as the power cord was worn were it meets the pump due to the shape of the design I think, I was horrified to discover this, and think it is a great fault on a product that could be good, very dangerous product!!

A Little Vibration
This is the second Pioneer Pet Drinking Fountain that we've bought, so don't let the four star rating deter you. It's a good solid product with a lot of great things. First, we love that it can be fully dismantled and run through the dishwasher. Second, we love that the parts are exchangeable, so (for example) if you move from the US to the UK, you can find a new pump without having to replace the whole unit just for voltage reasons. The filters are easy to swap out, and they seem to do a better job (in my opinion) than the flexible charcoal filters used by other water fountain models. So, why four stars? The pump does vibrate the unit sometimes, especially if you don't find just the right spot on the floor. We've had that problem with other fountains as well, and we can use a combination of paper towels and a cloth mat to dampen the vibration so it's not noticeable. That vibration doesn't seem to bother the cats at all. Still, it's a bit annoying to have to fiddle with the assembly every time you wash the unit just to keep it from buzzing you into insanity. I don't think the vibration is worse than other models, in fact, with this model I ~can~ jiggle it around until I find that blissful silence. But still, it's imperfect, and it may bother you more than me. So, keep that in mind before buying!

Cats love it!
Cats took to this immediately! The old water fountain broke down and having purchased that model twice before decided to change. It is a little noisier than the last but you become acustomed to it. Good size for cats and easy enough to keep clean. Blends nicely with my contemporary white and chrome decor!

Looks nice - pump quiet - but let down by usual noise problems
The media could not be loaded. The pump is very quiet but when you place the tin lid on top, it acts as a small amplifying caveboosing noise from the very quiet pump - check my small video. This happens all the time with every cat water fountain i have purchased (i have tried alot of them)The pumps are fine but they put resonating plastic or tin boxes around them causing excessive noiseLove my cat need something that works without noise as she is scared of everything

Cats love it.
Best thing I've bought for my cats. I have had this item for 2 years now and it's great. You do have to look after it though as the pump could break. Once a month I take it apart to clean it and put the pump in a glass of white vinegar over night to clean it (then put it in water and run it to flush the vinegar out) which keeps it running well. I live in a hard water area so put filtered water into it so the limescale build up isn't as bad. I also just empty it and refill it mid month to keep it fresh. It can be noisy at times but keeping it topped up helps and I've found that putting a blob of blue tack where the wire goes into the unit stops the wire vibrating and being noisy. Worth buying.
