Cheap as chips, did the job, simple as that.
I'm surprised at some of the negative reviews of these rods - look at the price! They're cheap as chips! However, if you're an average home owner with blocked drains these will clear them. I have just used them and the blockage is sorted out (in 3 drains). No rods snapped unlike other users have reported.Ultimately, they're a quick fix and a lot cheaper than solid rods for a reason. If you read the instructions it clearly says to twist in a clockwise direction because that is also the direction in which you screw the rods together. So guess what? If you turn them in an anti-clockwise direction whilst cleaning, they'll unscrew. Not rocket science, is it?I don't know if some people are expecting too much from them or if my expectations were low because I paid £16 for them. There are drain unblocking liquids out there that cost more than that and you won't get use of them a second time.

Cheap but does the job
It clearly isn't the best build quality ever, but it will do. It held together just fine and did the job. In just a single use, it paid for itself at least x4 fold. I expect it will last years to be honest with using a few times a year. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 out of 5 is the build quality could be a bit nicer.

A Complete Drain Rod System That Can't Be Faulted
Very pleased with this set of Drain Rods: 10 x 920 mm rods, 1 x 100 mm rubber plunger, 1 x 50 mm double worm screw, flexible and easy to join, using threaded connections, made of polypropylene, can be used as drain rods, chimney sweeping (chimney sweep accessories available as options).Silverline is a great name in tools, and this set is of optimum quality; although flimsy and flexible, the rods are ideal for worming their way through the blocked drains and sewer pipes you often come across when you least expect it; it took me 5 minutes to screw the 10 rods together, and a further half-hour poking through my convoluted system of underground waste pipes, which efficiently shifted the problem and, thankfully, the dirty stuff disappeared with ease. You get a rubber plunger and a screw-worm end connector; both these will prove invaluable in shifting any blockage. As the connector threads are very coarse (for easy connection) they do tend to unscrew themselves VERY slightly as you twist and contort the rods in the pipes, but there was no cause for concern as I checked them a few times while working. It was easy enough to dismantle and wash the rods down with a hose afterwards, and neatly store them away for future reference. There is no bag with the set, but an elastic band keeps them together nicely. An easy 5-star recommendation from me for these rods. Nice one Rod-ney!

must have in yr home
I have to take tym and write this review well these drain rods are really good, did the job for me. Had an outside blockage for weeks. when I ordered the rod I was a bit sceptical if it was going to actually work. Well you really have screw the rods tightly or they do come loose and could possibly get stuck in drain which would cause more problems!! When I used the rods the only one thing that went wrong was the metal worm end piece came off, whilst in the drain. All night whilst asleep I worried what was going to happen to the drain??? one thing I did notice water was flowing easily into the drain which was a plus but thought of the end piece still being in the drain really worried me. The very next day I opened up the main drain cover, which I had an idea to do, as I lifted it to my delight the metal worm end was right there, best day ever!!!! Drain clear, worm end found "JOB DONE". This a very cheap drain remedy and a must for any home. Cant say how it would preform for a more awkward blockage!!!! Really Chuffed

Useful, but could be better
The rods and the claw attachment do what they are supposed to do. However, I did find that they unscrewed as I was using them, even though I was trying my best to turn the rods in a clockwise direction, but once the rods get wet they are difficult to grip and twist. To combat this I would have liked to see a T handle which can be screwed into the end which would then allow me to screw in a clockwise direction when the rods are down the drain.Unfortunately I didn't get the blockage cleared at the first attempt, but that was mainly due to the length of rods - I should have bought an extension set to take the claw right down to the main sewer. I've ordered the drain brush and scraper as I want to get the drains as clean as possible.I also purchased a 15m drain cleaner which fits onto my pressure washer. Where the rods couldn't reach, this little gadget did, and between them I got the flow running again. To summarise: Yes I would recommend the rods, but bear the following in mind -; Make sure they're long enough to go the full length of the drain; Twist clockwise to stop them unscrewing; Use the Claw first to prevent the blockage from packing; Push the rods in and out of the drain at various intervals to allow you to pull back any debris and remove it; Wear something old which you don't mind throwing away afterwards!
