I think this is a bit small for a 2nd grader.

Is the material made of canvas or vinyl/plastic?

It’s both, the backpack itself if like a canvas material but the front of the backpack is like plastic vinyl (the image)

Does this hold a standard size folder?

I just purchased this bag and tried to put a folder in it. It does not fit a standard folder.
