Q: Replaced an old one with this on existing wires off a transformer on the lighting circuit. It won't ring from the existing or a new bellpush. Help!

You need to check if the voltages are present on the input to the unit.

Q: Can anyone explain the difference between diagram 2b and 2c in the instructions? I have transformer and illuminated press, not sure which to use...

2C: the bell push (the button) is connected in series 2B: the bell push (the button) is connected in parallel. Use this option if you're connected 2+ buttons (e.g. one outside, and one inside the porch)

Depends on what you are connecting it to, like a transformer or is it with batteries to a push button.

I’m not sure if you can get such a thing unless you use a new-fangled smart entry system so you’d possibly get a chime on your phone in the garden..?
