This is the best way to clean the solder tip. Nothing works better. I used the wet sponge that came with my iron for ever. But I will never do that again. Never search for water, never try to dry out your sponge before packing up after just a few repairs. Use this instead. Solder tip gets clean and stays hot. Water always cools off my iron. I need the iron hot. Get one of these and be happy.

You get 6 total, not 7. They are on the small side but its not hard to get them to fit in base tighter. Excellent value. Works very good! Just remember you get 6, not 7. It does say "6 extra" but does not say 7 total. Although 7 is shown in the picture. Still worth a buy if you are looking imo.

I picked up a new soldering station through Amazon in June. As I started using it, I realized that the cleaning sponge needed an ally for the process of cleaning the tip. Enter the brass ball tip cleaner kit and housing. This is so easy to use. Just push the tip into the housing where it will enter the ball of brass turnings. Rotate the tip and move it around and up and down. Pull out with a very clean tip and get back to soldering. It’ stupid quick and simple.

Works as expected, perfectly cleans soldering iron tip.

The sponges and shell seem to be of pretty decent quality, but the sponges are much smaller than typical. They don't fit very well in the shell or in another holder I already had. Putting two in made it too tight, and pulling it apart helps hold it in place, but it becomes too thin.
