pot luck on the seller?
i was really looking forward to receiving this paticular lighter as i already have this model in brushed chrome and i believe the 1941 model is the best one they do, why they changed it to the super common Z200 version i'll never know.however when it arrived the first thing i noticed is the lid when fully opened did not touch the lower part of the case which it is supposed to do and that is one of the biggest feature's of the 1941.when closed it did not sit flush together with the lower part it felt like the lid was made with thicker metal than the bottom case plus there was a tiny mark on the casing so for these 3 reasons it went back to the seller.however i have noticed this lighter is the second faulty zippo that i have purchased from "premier life" the other being an armor version which also went back due to being faulty ie : a wobbly lid.was 2012 a bad year for zippo's and they slipped quality control only to end up being sold as perfects in the open market hmmmm ?????as soon as i can procure a perfect 1941 in black ice i shall report back, hopefully it will be a 2012 model and will dispell my findings of that year being a duff year.UPDATE: 09/02/13i finally managed to get one that was perfect although i used a different seller this time which again did not go smoothly as they sent me a completely different zippo to the one i ordered ie: wrong model/style and colour, dohhhh.however once it finally came through right all is well, the black ice 1941 will go into the collection perfectly just like my brushed chrome one.i shall look forward to using it along with a z-plus butane insert to light my quality cuban puro's, also i am please to say its a 2012 model !!!!! yeay which proves me wrong that 2012 was a bad year for zippo's so it seems the issues lies with the seller?????.i need to stop buying now although the brushed brass one looks nice.....hmmmmmm.......??????

Great lighter
My first experience with a zippo lighter and it’s amazing starts everytime first time only complaint is the hinge is a little loose compared to the others I’ve brought after it

Better than your average Zippo
I've had mine now for six months. Not long but, as a virtual chain-smoker, it's had a fair ammount of use and abuse. Took a week to arrive, which was faster than the delivery estimate so no complaints about service. It arrived in good dondition and both the lighter and packaging were in perfect condition. The finish looks better in the flesh than the photos indicate. Seen from an oblique angle, the brushed sides appear almost black, so it's name is no misnomer. What separates this from other Zippos is the four hinge lid bracket, as opposed to the standard five. This construction makes for a greater sense of robustness than the five-hinged varients. Friends who bought current model Zippos at around the same time as I have lighters which already have a decidedly sloppy feel when opening them. Mine still feels as firm as the day it arrived and has a pleasing snap on closing. Strangely, it also feels nicer to hold than its modern counterparts due to its more rounded casing. The only downsides are that you need to use Zippo flints, as the more commonly available types (Swan, etc) are too long which can be a pain. Stock up on Zippo flints to avoid severe irritation...The second concerns the brushed finish. If you walk around with it in a pocket along with coins or the like, the finish (very) quickly becomes scratched. Personally, I rather like it. Adds to the character. Hors d' combat and all that. If you want to keep yours pristine however, this has to be considered.I've owned several Zippos over the years and this is certainly the best. Oh, and the hinge makes for a good conversation starter with other weed addicts. If you're after a Zippo, this is the one to have. I just wish they'd make a version with their heavy duty brass casing...

Storm durable, no loose Hinge and completely badass.
The media could not be loaded. For anyone considering buying a new Zippo, or even your first Zippo. Please buy this one, I’m a small time collector, I’ve had the basic zippos, brass Armour, the Slim, and the replicas. In my experience the most durable, consistent, and in best condition on delivery, are the replicas ESPECIALLY this 1941 replica along with the 1935. It’s tight and dialled, meaning no rattling hinges, not unless beaten up after a while. The 4 pin system on this 41 as well as the 3 pin system on the 35 is soooo superior to the modern day standard 5 pin system it makes you seriously wonder why they ever changed it in the first place. All in all this has become one of my fav Zippo’s of all time as I knew it would, great condition, built to last, looks cool and feels great with the black crackle texture, this is worth the £25 in my honest opinion.

why did zippo change from this perfect design?
This zippo and its finish in my opinion is by far the best zippo model currently available. Its miles better than the Z200 (super common ones) it has nice touches to the casing and due to its size its sits perfect in the hand and a delight to use. This is going to take over from my colibri wellington lighter that I have been using for cigars..... yes thats right cigars ! and before you scoff about using a zippo which i know you are not supposed to use because of the petrol smell affecting your quality sticks i have swapped out the zippo petrol insert for a Z-plus jet flame butane insert instead.Upgrading the fuel insert/tank for those who wish to retain the Zippo case but hate the petrol smell. Before purchasing it I searched all over the web to find any info on whether the Z-plus would fit a 1941 case but to no avail, however i can confirm they do fit perfectly.I disagree with another reviewer who said that other standard zippo inserts dont fit, thats rubbish they do as long as you are using a Z200 insert (super common one) or the Armour insert either will fit.I love this 1941 model so much I now have a black ice to go with the collection and will add the brushed brass and the black crackle to the collection.
