Q: Can this chair be used in nursing homes?

the chair would be excellent for nursing homes. it is a great chair. my wife has ALS and it allows her to breath by tilting back.

Q: What is the depth of the seat area on the 18 inch wide model?

Q: we need to know the measurement from outside 14" wheels to the other outside back wheel. Also the length of the leg support. Armrest removable ?

Hello Katharina. 1. Over all open width for the 18" seat is 26".2. Unfortunately I do not have a pair of ELR for this chair readily available to measure the overall length but they are adjustable.3. Arm rest are flip back onlyThank you:)

Q: Does this wheelchair recline independently of the tilt in space feature?

i am not sure what you are asking. the wheelchair back does not recline. the back and seat pivot around an axis at the back of the seat bottom and base of the back support. so the bottom and the back pivot together. Hope that helps. we loved the chair for a year in my vife's ALS progression. She graduated to the big electric chair. the Karman was really cool for the time it served her needs. I added bicycle handle extensions so that i could push the chair without bending over so much.
