Perfect. Great Christmas gift

These are nice pieces with no imperfections or knots anywhere and they all have a pretty tight grain. Since they don’t actually give the sizes/dimensions of the individual blocks on the product page, I measured the eight smaller ones at 1”x1”x5 7/8” and the two larger ones at 1 15/16”x1 15/16”x5 7/8” (in case you’re curious…I definitely was). They come in a box that includes all 10 blocks, a sample pattern for the larger blocks and a QR code for a link to tips and instructional videos (which is great for newcomers to wood carving). I haven’t checked into it yet but I’m hoping they also offer packs of larger pieces as well (all I saw on the product page were four different wood options in these block sizes). Either way, these are good quality pieces that should work well for smaller carving projects and they sell for a pretty fair price (though an even $20 would be a little better). If they’d offer a little more clarity on the sizes of each piece and maybe come down on the price a little, I’d give this five stars…as is, it’s a solid 4-4.5.

I love the new selection of woods. BeaverCrafters now have a choice. If you are going to paint your carving go with basswood, if you want some figure and intend to keep the character of the wood, then these are currently the only choices on the market, unless you go to a specialty wood store.

My order states I requested Acacia wood. The box the wood blanks arrived in is marked basswood. Basswood is a good carving wood, but not what I was hoping to get when I placed my order. The blanks arrived smooth and without flaws or knots that would make carving difficult. The variety of sizes allows for a number of projects.
