Comfy, allows dogs to sleep while recovering from surgery
I have two dog. I originally purchased this inflatable doughnut 6 months ago or so to keep my chocolate lab dog from licking his foot. It did not work for this particular dog due to his temperament and the location of the area I needed to keep him from licking.Recently my other dog (black lab) as he was recovering from surgery. He had never used a cone or any similar device and was really struggling with even the soft e-cones. The inflatable doughnut worked great for him. He has a pretty chill temperament. The inflatable cone provided enough of a reminder for him to leave his stitches (one ear, side and bum) alone. If u had a very determined dog I’m not sure this inflatable donought would work. With a pretty chill dog its work good. Also is more comfortable for our dog and allows him to sleep. Bought a second one so that I could wash and alternate every few days.

Another option
My dog recently got fixed. They sent him home with a lampshade lol. My dog hated the cone he wouldn't move, he just sat there and cried. I looked for another option came across this. He was ok with this inflatable cone. He stopped crying went about as normal. It helped him see, not echoing in his ear. I even think he appreciated the pillow for sleeping.

Not effective, plastic is soft and very pliable. Needs a number of improvements.
I was hoping this would be a more comfortable collar for my 8 month, 16 lb puppy who just had surgery vs the regular hard plastic collars that dogs receive from the vet's office. The donut inflated easily while pinching the valve open. The fabric on the donut is very soft and velvety. The plastic around the top edge of the donut is too flexible and pliable. It is also not high enough to block the dog, and is very easy to push out of the way. Also, there is an opening in the donut and plastic to enable fastening the cone/donut around the dog's neck. As the cone/donut rotates around the dog's neck, it allows the dog to push through the opening flap making easy access to the surgical site.As soon as we had the donut collar fastened to my dog, we knew it wouldn't work. He aggressively pushed through the plastic shield to the surgical sight and began licking. The open flap of the clear plastic was behind his head.We assembled and fastened the collar according to the included directions. Also, before we could remove the collar to fasten the old fashioned one, my dog pushed it off over his head with his hind feet. It took all of 1 second after he managed to set his hind feet on the bottom of the donut portion of the collar. The cone/collar was attached, as directed, to my dog's collar, which was a bit tighter than we normally keep it. I was concerned that it might be too tight. I feel there is too much give in the inflatable donut even when it is fully inflated. Maybe add a stiff plastic piece beneath the fabric of the donut? To sum it up, the plastic shield needs to be stiff and immovable, the opening in the collar/cone needs a fastener of some sort especially across the plastic shield, the inflatable donut needs to be redesigned to remove the platform like shape on the bottom, making it more difficult to push off of the head.I cannot recommend this product. It needs improvements.

Works well but zipper is flimsy.
My pup had a hotspot on his face. He hated the traditional cone and it was so upsetting to him. This one was totally comfortable and prevented him from scratching his face. We went through four cones before we found this one. I am so happy with the results and he is healing fast. The only thing is after a few days, the plastic broke off the cone because the zipper line broke. But I had bought a backup cone and thank God so we just put the plastic from that one onto this cone. It happened when he was going in and out of the doggie door.

Flawed design, at least for our dog.
It's an ok inflatable collar, but the cone portion itself isn't very sturdy. Our dog (90lb labrador) was able to to spin the collar and use the gap in the cone to get to his paws, then bend the edges of it down. It's ok, but we wouldn't repurchase if something happens to it.

Perfect buy!
This IS a GREAT product! We have it on our Great Pyrenees after her Femur surgery. The material it is made of is WAY BETTER than the hard plastic ones the vet offer. When she bumps into a wall or doorway edge, it is softer and doesn't perk her like the vet one did. It is easy to blow up, place collar in and put on her neck. VERY happy with this! The zip on shield is a little flimsy, but works. The velcro is a good add on for stability. The only time she got to licking her wound was when the opening was at the bottom of her neck

Comfortable but use the E collar hard plastic cone from Vet
It is soft and comfortable looking for your dog but even with it attached to his collar, it spun around and he licked and infected his wound. We have a 100 pound St. Bernard mix. We will be using the hard plastic E collar from the Vet. Not worth possibly losing a limb because we are making our dog uncomfortable and he runs into all the furniture with the hard plastic E collar. Keep your pets safe use the E collar

Ok
As shown. My Shiloh shepherd could still reach his neuter scar due to his long neck, but this made it annoying for him to do so.
