Great quality
I am so pleased with this blanket it’s the perfect weight and love the color I received. I wasn’t sure but reviews were positive and it did not disappoint. So soft and comfortable like it has been passed down from family. I’ve ordered a second one and can’t wait to see what colors I get.

As described
Bright colors and sewn well! Wash up nicely. Very versatile. This was my second time purchasing.

A fun surprise waiting on it to be delivered!
So beautiful, and impressed with the hand stitching quality that I'm inspired to try to make one of these (we'll see where that goes!)! :-). The fun of ordering it was waiting to see what fabric we would get. I ended up liking the prints on the one we received.

An Experiment
Howdy folks!I’ll start by saying that these blankets very easily caught my eye. Not only because of the bright colors and the home-madey-ness of them, but the price! Let’s face it, I’m cheap… and I’ve always loved Indian garments, tapestries & such. My style was “Boho” in the 90’s, since before it was cool.Anyway, I just knew that a Kantha ‘quilt’ would fit into my space super well no matter what color I received (and I was right, please continue…)I spent nearly an hour going through different listings for this item last night. Reading the reviews, looking at photos and trying to figure out which seller could potentially produce the best product at the best price. I had at least ten of these blankets in my cart all from different sellers on Amazon. The reviews for any one listing varied quite a bit. Some praising the blankets and ordering more. Others leaving some kinda angry comments about them. A few even thought that they came all the way from India straight to their doorstep in 24 hours- so that was helpful. 🫠After narrowing it down to just two sellers, I decided to do an experiment. Also, if I purchased two I would qualify for same-day delivery and I like that kinda service… so two blankets it was!Of course I purchased the one from this seller for around $18 and some change. I also got the same item from a different seller for around $16.A few hours later, my package arrived. The positive and negative reviews on both listings were pretty similar to one another, as well as the item descriptions. I opened this particular quilt first… Hoping for the best, somewhat expecting a pungent smell and Swastika-print fabric (this actually happened - a few times) luckily I encountered neither. What I did receive was exactly what I was hoping not to get. I really did not want one with some random, out-of-place, non-matching patches. So of course this quilt has four of ‘em. That said, the colors are vibrant. I do wish that all of the colors/patterns flowed together on both sides, but one side is pink/yellow, the other, red, gold and blue. It’s not an ugly blanket by any means (or my standards). I guess you could say, it’s reversible. One side for the fall/winter, the other for the spring/Summer. lol idk, anywho… here are some pros & cons for this Kantha:PROS:1. Great vibrant colors.2. It’s thicker than expected. Definitely not what I would consider a quilt, but I wasn’t hoping for a quilt. I was hoping for a thin & comfy cotton throw to take along in my boho-chic pop-up camper on hot summer camping trips.3. I actually love that they’re made from recycled material.4. Surprise! NO SMELL. Y’all had me nervous about opening this blanket and passing out from the fumes. the way some people reviewed the smell had me concerned. No doubt, I would definitely recommend washing them (GENTLY, and probably hang to dry as well - I’ll touch on the reasons why shortly)CONS: (I’m not trying to be a hater, this is my honest review. Take it how you will. I’m sure everyone’s experiences are different. After all, it is basically luck that chooses which blanket you will receive)1. Those few dang random patches. I hate them. I didn’t want them. I got them. They don’t match the rest of the blanket. If I were to lay it flat on a bed, they would obnoxiously stand out to me. (See pics)2. The X stitches around the edges and the stitches going through the entirety of the blanket are a bit wild. Some are frayed, some aren’t tied off, some are crooked, some just aren’t there at all. It isn’t horrible, but it isn’t great either. (See pics)3. One of the corners had a super sticky, yellow-ish substance on it. It stuck to my fingers like I was Spider-Man. Last thing anyone in this world wants is to unfold a blanket for the first time and find someone’s sticky stuff on your hand, ya know what I’m sayin’. Lmao. No, but seriously, it very well could have been transfer from the unnecessary amount tape that was very tightly wrapped all around the bag that it came in. I also thought that it could possibly be fabric glue, but I didn’t notice it anywhere else on the blanket. It still didn’t smell though.4. A portion of one side wraps around to the other side at the edge and it’s kinda cooked and awkward. I thought I could just use it on the side that’s opposite of the patchy one, but then there’s the weird wonky edge that doesn’t continue around the entire blanket (see pics)Final thoughts: I never expected perfection & superior craftsmanship when I ordered an $18 recycled blanket. It’s beautiful for what it is. I haven’t decided yet if I want to keep it or try my luck exchanging it & seeing if the next one the Amazon warehouse worker picks out for me is any better. If I do end up going that route, I’ll update my review.I give it 3.5 stars.About that other (couple bucks cheaper) Kantha that I ordered from a different seller, I have to say… it’s an easy 4.5 stars. I got a for sure keeper!PROS:1.While it was about an inch shorter than the first on one in both length and width, all of the stitching was superior. (See pics) There are no patches, it has a wider range of colors that go together better in my opinion and it’s slightly thinner, but the fabric itself seems thicker, maybe.. idk. It makes sense to me lolThere are far less frays, strange sticky stuff, patches and weird edges.3. I wouldn’t worry about it falling apart in the washer or dryer… which is a great thing considering the CON: it smells like it was shipped inside someone’s diesel fuel tank like cocaine from Mexico. I’m serious. I opened the plastic package and I finally understand every review I read about this smelly-smell. My kid came out from his room and thought there was a gas leak. It’s bad-bad. It’s currently in the washer with baking soda and vinegar, along with some Gain liquid detergent, because we all know that stuff will make a dirty diaper smell good.All-in-all, I’m happy with my experiment. I try not to base all of my trust or doubt off of other people’s reviews. Always find out for yourself! No matter what one person says, another person’s experience and opinion will no-doubt be different. That, and there are some super wacky reviewers on Amazon, man. They make for some good entertainment. What do I do for fun? … I read Amazon reviews lol.I hope this review helps and if it doesn’t, that’s cool too. Either way, I categorize this as a “why not” purchase. It’s fun! As a very wise Vietnam War vet, Cross Country runner & All American Football player from Alabama once said on a bench at a bus stop, “Life is like a Kantha blanket, you never know what you’re gonna get.” … or something like that.Peace :)

Decent except for poorly patched hole
Maybe 3.5. I'm on the fence. I've seen better cohesiveness in pattern on other Kantha quilts that I've owned, but I'm OK with the pattern. You kind of get what you get and that's part of the charm of these inexpensive lightweight throws. What I'm not happy about is the patching of what was presumably a hole. There is a barely sewn on patch that sticks out. I didn't notice it until after I washed and dried it, so I'm doubting I could return it at this point. I will probably just have to get a needle and thread and tack the patch down myself, but it's a bit disappointing to have to repair an item you just got. On the plus side, the colors are nice and there was no smell, unlike some I've bought in the past.

Love the colours, but the chemical smell is strong
UPDATE: The chlorine odour has disappeared and the fabric. Smell has dissipated as well. I have had to sew on all of them as the beginning and ends of the white stitching was just left and not knotted. I knotted then sewed down to the area where I knotted. Honestly, at this price point I am not upset at doing these things. I still love the blankets. They are great for summer and I’m looking forward to using them.First, I love these blankets. The five I received are colourful and perfect for layering. They aren’t quilts lie we are accustomed to in Canada/UD. They ar basically two sheets decoratively sewn together. They will be fantastic summer blankets. Before I put them in the wash they smelled a little like chlorine. After one wash the chemical smell was very strong. I’m on the 4th wash and second using vinegar. It must be the smell of new fabric and inks/dyes. I added lavender oil on my dryer balls. The smell is diminishing, so I am hopeful they will be odour free after a couple more washes. I’ll hang them outside tomorrow before I waste more water washing them.
