Q: Im a man in the army so my hair is short. I have dark brown hair with gray hairs and was recommended this. Will this work to color the grays?

Would it cover, most definitely! However, having short hair, it is not something I would waste the time to purchase since it would grow out faster than you could keep it colored. That being said, the more important thing I want to say is, Thank you for your service.

Q: Does it have a reddish or orange color when used

a deep, rich copper color--intense. My 93-year-old mother says it's orange, but it's not. Wait, I just read the other two answers, which, I suppose, depends on one's original, natural hair color. I have fading red hair going white. My L'Oreal color is that intense red.
