Excellent drum with 10 tuning lugs so that you can crank it but you may want some dampening because like any other drum it does ring

it sounds terrific
I bought this Yamaha birch snare for a local club that has a house drum kit sans snare. It sounds so good I ordered another one for me. The birch wood provides a warm tone without a lot of ringing, although I did choose to add a damper ring. The head that comes on the snare is good so I did not have to swap it out.
