Great for early learners
I ordered this spelling set for my 5 year old - he's been interested in reading for a while now, but has really been into spelling recently. We work on spelling random words, but has also been making up his own words by putting random letters together. This set helps little learners recognize different three- and four-letter words with the addition of a picture on each card. The letters are painted wood; they have smooth edges and surfaces, so no worry about getting splintered. The cards are also thick, sturdy cardboard material. When ready to store, the set comes with a cloth-like drawstring bag to put everything into.

Very Educational
I love this set, it has the photo, all of the letters. It really helps kids to learn how to spell and sound out what they see. This makes a great gift for any prek/kindergarten child. My son loves this so much. We play for hours and he’s actually learning as well!

Nice quality set for learning the most common lower case letters
I've had a hard time finding toys/puzzles/games with lowercase letters in a simple font. This game definitely meets the need, although they only include letters used to spell the word cards, which makes sense. The word cards include three and four letter words, and they are a heavy cardstock, but not laminated or waterproof so I don't expect them to hold up for long-term heavy use.The letters are a nice wood that make a pleasant sounding clink when they bang each other. The color coding makes it easier to find The same letter, for example all the e's are the same color. As you can see in my photo, the p, d, b are all the exact same shape, although they are different colors. I don't know if that would make it easier or harder for young toddlers. The size of the letters in the cards are perfect for small hands and the variety of words with the illustration is nice and educational. It comes with a reusable bag, though not good quality, which isn't a problem for me at this price point.Overall I think this is a cute set to add to our Montessori shelf rotation for my 2.5 YO. I think I will start by leaving only a few cards on a tray with a subset of the letters to make it more manageable, and add more cards and letters as he becomes more proficient at identifying them.

Great for many ages!
These are really nice. The cards aren't flimsy, the letters are a decent size, and the letters fit perfectly into the outlines on the cards. We're using these for letter recognition and matching for our toddler, and our two school age kids are using it for spelling. For our oldest I like to cover the outline part and have him try to spell the word so he can just using the card to check his answer rather than as a guide. The letters are wooden and can be used independently from the cards for other spelling activities as well. I'm very happy with these and they've already proven to be a good resource for us!

Letters!
I got these for my nieces to help with them learning their letters. I highly suggest it as a fun way to learn little one's alphabets.

CVCC words
I have seen these words as CVC with great success for students with Autism. And I thought I would start a student on the 'next' level to CVCC words. This set has a variety of four letter words for students to build and spell as they go along. Students using these may need context for certain words like 'taxi' if the taxi company in the area is not traditional looking as the New York Taxi cabs are.Otherwise, this is a great starter set. I may try and build this set without images to get students to build their names.

Wonderful learning activity, but NOT for toddlers
So the letters are a bit smaller than I expected from the photos; for example, the lower case "o" or "e" is about the size of a silver dollar (slightly bigger than a quarter.). However that does not substantially change anything about this set, other than that it is definitely NOT for a toddler (toddlers put things in their mouths and this is a choking hazard for that age group.) While the description here says, "toddler" the box the activity came in clearly states it is for ages 3+, and realistically toddlers would be too young to benefit much from this activity anyway. But for a slightly older child (the box says 3, I would say as an educator we're talking more ages 4 and up, and that would have to be a somewhat advanced 4 year old at that...) this is a great activity. The key is to put no pressure on a young child to sound out or remember the spellings of these words. The learning benefit for a 4 year old for instance would mostly be to identify a starting sound or an ending sound, or maybe just even to name the letters as they match them to the card. It is the act of "playing with" the letters that the best learning can happen. An older child, in first or even second grade, could begin to actually sound out and learn to spell these words. Or a very advanced kindergartener. But again, the goal is no pressure, no stress. Playing with the cards and enjoying themselves making words is really the way to go, learning is a side effect. So I will hold on to these and wait to use them until my child is 3 or maybe even 4. It's a great activity, just not for the group in the item description.
