Very good story

Amazing cast, story and direction

It seems to me this is the story of three wives and the ways they 'complete' their husbands. Okay, the damage was done early on, but the man in question is still strong enough to [spoiler alert] do the right thing on the night, which makes Mystic River the tragedy of a woman in doubt.If it weren't for the women, Mystic River is a hack movie, shot in 'delicious' Eastwood sweeps and scored with the same melancholic flair. Some of the dialogue is unbearable, so the acting can be hammy. If it weren't for the strong cast, it'd be much worse, of course.In the end, it's predictable, but if you pay attention to the women, better than the average murder mystery plot.

Firstly the script, cast, acting and directing of this film are all above average. I would say that some plot points were quite typical (for 2002) but overall this was a bit different to most other thrillers. In a way it was trying to be too unique and that made it a bit uneven... it didn't flow so well in parts. I would not say it was a psychological film really, more of a mystery/puzzle for the viewer to solve. Be warned, it is a very bleak film and a bit unsavoury as it portrays a rough neighbourhood and there are some nasty storylines as well. Overall it was a good effort but fell quite a bit short of greatness and did become run if the mill at times.

Great watch...with Sean Penn deservedly winning an Oscar for best actor.....after his daughter is murdered his world falls apart and he then learns of a possible suspect from his past and tries to put all the peices together.....with a nice twist at the end this is a top top film give it a watch you wont be disappointed.

I enjoyed it, good story , great actors, totally believable, with a well worked twist.5stars.
